By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

Blood clots in arms

Has anyone had more blood clots in their arms? a few weeks ago I was diagnosed with one...had antibiotics because it seemed to be infected..tonight I discovered another hard lump in one of my veins...it is tender in the area....what do I do? Now I am just freaked out....

Is it a deep vein clot or are they considering it "superficial?" Are you on warfarin and therapuetic?

If you are on warfarin and still clotting, you may have a genetic disorder (I think it is APS - anti-phospho lipid syndrome). I think switching to Lovenox can then prevent clotting.

As mentioned above, what you are feeling are most likely superficial and not likely to put you at risk for a PE, though you should be concerned you are clotting elsewhere that could potentially pose problems.

Honestly, if you think you have felt another clot in your arm then you need to go to the hospital. It could be DVT with could then become a PE. Good luck and keep us updated.

I had DVT in my arm , but it wasn't red, swollen or lumpy. It was just painful.

If you're being treated for an infection and it's getting worse, you need to call your doc.

    We all have 24 hours in a day.  How we spend these hours is important.  Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do.  Gonna have to work on that.Your turn.  Tell me another truth.
