Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
I had massive bilateral PE Oct 2009, as a result of DVT. Was on coumadin for 2 yrs.
In Sept I went to see cardiologist who took me off coumadin suddenly when he did a right and left heart cath. He was supposed to bridge back but said that I was good to go without it.
Yesterday i was discharged from hosp after collapsing Sunday night, 3 clots in right leg. I'm recovering faster than before.
They are still researching why my oxygen dropped to 67... as the spiral contrast CT did not show new PE (I have IVC filter)
For those who don't want to be lifers on coumadin...I didn't either but I do now. This repeat performance is very painful, expensive, and of course, life threatening. Kills my good mood, too.

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
SO sorry you're having to work through all this yet again. I hope you let that cardiologist know what the result was, otherwise he might do this to someone else.

I am more frustrated than anything else. And, of course, collapsing and going by ambulance was a new experience.
Why won't the doctors LISTEN?

I remember when you and I were "riding" together before...sorry you came back on the trail with me, you could have stayed at the bunkhouse back home.
It is easier this time, maybe because I know the road.
I'm sorry anyone gets second clot. I really am. But then you see, we can do this. For me, getting a second clot was the best thing that happened to me from a psychological view point. It sort of released me in a way. I know, crazy, right?
