I'm sorry to hear that. But I'm glad your sight is returning and that you have a visit on the books with a new doc. We just gotta keep moving forward.

Were you on anticoagulants with this second incident?

Oh, how frustrating! It sounds like you're already taking the bull by the horns with getting a new doctor. Also, glad to hear that your sight is returning. (How scary!) Please keep us posted on how you're doing?

How'd this second clot happen?

I haven't ever had a clot in my eye but I did reclot after Heparin, lovenox and coumadin in the hospital. My multiple large PE's in my right lung were diagnosed in Feb 2013. It took 2 weeks and me getting to a third doctor for someone to take my pain seriously. After a week in the hospital they sent me home on coumadin. Only to end up back 2 weeks later with my left lung full of clots. So, I went back on the lovenox and coumadin together. 1 week after that my INR went up to 4.9 so back in the hospital for a week because the docs were concerned about a spontaneous bleed. Oh, and when I finally got to shower in the hospital, when they let me off the heart monitor, I hit my hip (twice, doh!) on the towel rack- that left a huge bruise and a knot for over a month. So, I totally know how it feels to have a good feeling, finally, about a doc and be on the road to recovery. I am so happy your vision is back. That had to be super scary.

I know what you mean about burdening your family. Luckily, my hubby is a great listener. The rest of my family doesn't really want to believe there is a problem. Just, oh, your on blood thinners now and all is well. Ugh, if only that were true.

I've been on Coumadin for about 18mths now after my 2nd PE in 2011. I had first PE in 2008.
I am now a lifer. However I started clotting even being in range.
In the last 6 mths I've had a DVT and then the first clot in my eye a couple of months ago and then this most recent clot.
My range has been increased to 2.5-3 as I clot when I go below 2.5.
I am flying 5 hrs across the country to see a dr who specialises in clotting people. Where I am there is a visiting haem only so they tend not to specialise so much.
I am lucky that the loss of sight has been transient but am looking forward to seeing if new doc has any other advice. Staff move fast when I come into the emergency room as they know my history.
I have a disorder that is increasing my clotting risk.
For any new people I am the exception not the rule.

I am so new to this the docs aren't sure if I have a clotting disorder or not. They can't do all of the blood tests until next year when I can go off of the coumadin for a short period. I have been told that most likely I will be on coumadin for the rest of my life. I'm not happy about it but obviously it's better than dying from a clot.
