By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

Maybe this has been discussed before. Not sure. I have never had many headaches and since I started on warfarin or after the PE, not sure which, I have a headache almost every evening. Anyone else seem to have that problem. And these are headaches that are worse than any I have ever had. I had one the other night when I was in the hospital and they just gave me percocet. Cause Tylenol did nothing. Just wondering if it's the warfarin...or part of the healing process and just another place to have pain. OH.....because of the headache the other night and dizzy spells, they did CT my head and there was nothing there. (yeah, I know how that sounds) But you got find humor in something. That is my saving grace...my sense of humor.

Hey there! I have noticed that I have had more frequent headaches as well, since my PE and starting warfarin. I don't have them every night but I do certainly have them more often and they are pretty intense too. There was a time recently I had a headache for three days straight, so bad that I couldn't take it. We called the doc on call and he told me to take 800 mg of motrin, which you aren't normally supposed to take, and that was just to kick the headache out then I was told to take tylenol after. I was told NOT to do this often if I can avoid it, unless it was an emergency. After that episode my regular doc prescribed something for headaches. The brand name is Fioricet. It works wonders and is way better then tylenol. Tylenol doesn't really do a whole lot for me, I switched to the arthritis strength which is a higher dose so it does a bit better. I also take tylenol PM which helps me sleep which reduces my headaches as well.
And its really good that you keep your sense of humor! Keeps you sane! :) Im not sure if the headaches are normal but I am going through the same thing, so you aren't alone!

Yeah same here, I think the blood thinner may have something to do with it. I could always tell when my INR got High cause of the Headaches, could this be coincidence? Maybe, but It was right 95% of the time.

I have them now too. Don't know if it is the warfarin, the PE, stress, or what. But, I have them. Tylenol does absolutely nothing so most if the time I don't even bother taking it. I didn't typically have mamny headaches before, so I know one of the above, or combination of, is causing them.

I've been having bad headaches pretty frequently as well for the past few weeks. I also wondered if it was from the Warfarin. It is just SO comforting to come here and read what you all have posted and that we all seem to be experiencing the same things. I have been called a hypochondriac more than a few times so I just don't speak about the PE's or any of the other medical problems that I have going on with friends or family anymore. So, thank you all for sharing. Together, we can prevail! :D
