Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
"I started smoking again through all of this and I am beating myself up about that".
I came from an all-member smoking family and started when I was 12 and managed to quit when I was mid 30's. Just wanted to encourage you not to beat yourself up but even if you fail once in awhile, know in your own mind that you will quit. Hopefully you have already backed off on using.
I have two older sisters. My youngest older sister managed to quit a couple of years ago using a Laser treatment technique. She said it simply took away all the craving. There are many different ways to quit and I am sure you have the deternination to do so. I am thinking you probably aren't smoking know but don't beat yourself on short term lapses. Just keep sight of the long-term goal and eventually the need for these things just disappears.
Let's face it, no one really knows what happens in another persons relationship. When I was married to my ex-husband, everyone thought we were the perfect couple/family. Not so. We were together for 12 years, married for 10, and had two children. And in those 10 years, we worked and worked and worked to stay together, including therapy, but I think we both deserved to actually be happy and that wasn't going to happen with us married. For me, it did take courage to leave. I had been with him since I was 18, I had no career as I had been a stay at home mom, and it was the first time in my life I was standing up for myself. It did not help the situation that I made a rather large lifestyle change at that time and everyone assumed that was the reason for our divorce, not true.
There was no celebrating on the day of my divorce. It was in fact, a very sad day. But, I was also very happy because I knew it was the right and best thing for everyone. That was 10 years ago. My ex and I still talk everyday, sometimes multiple times, we parent together, and have found we are better friends than partners.
I think ( and this is just my opinion) this topic can incite such a reaction because there seems to have been a growing trend for quite a while and that is so many people entered into marriage with the idea they could simply divorce if they wanted. Somehow the "forever" part was left out of the equation. However that is certainly not the case with everyone and some people are plain and simple better off not being together.
I think it was much too early in the morning for me to write such a novel. lol Not sure any of it came out as intended.
But I'm fine taking a "You go, girl" kind of attitude just because it takes strength to walk out of a situation like this. It takes introspection and thought and a willingness to step into the unknown. And ultimately, I applaud this kind of activity regardless of the situation. Any time someone takes a pro-active move toward improving his/her life, I feel it deserves recognition.
Not that every step of this type is a happy thing. Sometimes a marriage ends. Or someone walks away from grad school. Or someone gives up on the possibility of ever having a biological child. But ultimately they are steps forward, toward something better and shiny in the distance. And there might be grief and sadness and work in between here and that shiny future, but one step in the right direction is worth celebrating.
But, ending any type of long-term relationship is extremely challenging and can take a lot of time to recover from, even if you were the person doing the leaving. And survivor is right ... ultimately, we all DO want you to be happy.
Also ... I'm not going to judge YOU because he was online surfing through dating sites. That is his issue and how you deal with it is your choice. Ultimately, if you're OK with how you're handling things and you feel you are making the best choice for you personally, I'm probably gonna be on board.
Best wishes to you. Keep us posted on how you are doing!
