Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
the Grandma that gets to enjoy riding horses, ATV's and Jet Boating with my husband, Children and grand kids. I will be the Grandma that will continue to hunt with a high powered rifle that leaves me with bruises on my shoulder every time I shoot it and I will continue to climb that tree stand with my archery equipment in hopes of bagging that elusive elk and not falling out of the tree stand. Life is way to short and passes so quickly. Just yesterday I was 21 and now all of a sudden I woke up and I'm almost 60. Life can and does return to normal if we allow ourselves to return to normal after surviving a DVT or PE. If I died tomorrow from another clot I know I have been blessed to have lived this long, will my family miss me, of course they will, Would they have been better off if I had sat on the sidelines and watched life pass me by and become bitter? No they know me as Nana who will attempt to keep up with them until my last dying breath, they will be better for my participation in their lives.

Life has definitely changed for me. So much good has filled my life. I am forever grateful that I had the PE.
, I hope to ride my bike again. like ferr i,m holding you to the bike. it has been five years for me and numerous illnesses and injuries. i can,t even walk a straight line with out falling and injuring something. these clots have taken too much physically but way more emotionally.
i decided when i had another fall last week that if i can,t walk with our falling i have never fallen getting on or off an exercise bike. an hour later i came home with an awesome beach cruiser with the basket, bell, the thing on the back for carrying a saddle bag, rear, view mirror, the lights and just awesome especially the helmet. my kids have always said they won,t let me ride a bike and many other things. they are scared of losing me. i would rather be dead than exist. i spent several years working in special education classes and the children are not tied to the chairs and not allowed to try anything do to their disabilities. i would stare at them sometime for hours to find an alternative safe way to accomplish an activity for them. i remember one girl that shook so much she was never allowed to sting beads and i watched her once for an hour and decided their was an alternative way to do it.i huddled her in a corner till she had this huge long necklace and the teacher said that is not possible i had her do it in front of him and he was flabbergasted. we withhold so much joy from ourselves for fear of death but we are past the near death we are now in the wow i,m alive. i for got this is possible even for me. when i rode the bike i was reminded how much fear i have lived in. i forgot about all those years working with the severely handicapped, observe they teach safer alternatives to the things we love to do.
the bike is not as unsafe as it sounds. think about it i have fallen so many times from not being able to lift my feet high enough to clear curbs, tripping over rugs God knows what else. the bike is awesome. i mean really awesome i can go grocery shopping with it. ride to the beach, ride the nature trials which i am afraid to walk. for fear of running our of air. the bike works better. my kids are gonna be furious. i can,t wait to hear the lecture i am looking forward to it. to bad. they were supposed to lose me five years ago everything else is a bonus.
speaking of i am 53 i have a dear dear friend who lost her husband last year. her name is Barbara. in the last three week remember this when we are afraid to live her son was 52 he was shot 4 time and killed, her daughter came for the funeral and the day after she got home she had some kind of reaction to her blood pressure medicine she was 54 she was found dead in her bed. this woman needs our prayers but also we are not guaranteed anything i am thankful to be her i'll start with the bike. and keep my friend in my prayers
I hope you don't mind me using your thread to congratulate myself for being alive today, 11 days before my 41st birthday, and .... just realized, to the DAY, it's 8 months exactly since I was diagnosed with multiple PEs in my right lung, lower lobe on October 9, 2010 - the day after I was rushed by ambulance to the ER.
God bless us all!

My kids do the "be careful thing" with me all the time. It was too much of a shock for them to see me in ICU....then post surgeries, etc......but I remind them every day that I am here and not planning to leave anytime soon. I too get too anxious and end up racing my sons, I have 4, no daughters....so our house is already so pumped up with punching bags, wrestling, etc.....and I join in and get "ruffed" up.
I have to remind myself that I am living and it is ok for now.
Prayers to those who were recently lost.......and thanks to you all for your pearls of wisdom!
