Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
I had multiple bilateral PEs in August of 2010. When I first came home after 2 1/2 weeks in ICU, everyone seemed like they were rallying around me - from grocery shopping, to laundry, to cleaning, etc. (I have a 10 and 12 year old).
A few weeks later, we got another wake up call when my father in law was diagnosed with Lung Cancer, and is refusing any form of treatment. Since then, my husband (as he should be) has been catering to his father's every whim - and not here. The kids, in turn, have literally stopped any form of support - and getting them to do anything - requires 5-6 requests and when it winds up screaming I wind up coughing and panicking that I am going to throw myself into another episode and wind back up in the hospital.
So, bottom line, I hear/feel your panic - can anyone offer any insight on how to deal with the "seemingly" lack of support I am feeling? Am I overreacting?
