Hello, I am 33, I started having psoriasis when I was about 13 or 14. My father had psoriasis so it seemed fated that I would get it as well. I lived with until I was 25. I was very over weight and suffered many digestion problems.
At 25 I decided that I wanted to change my body and life. Initially I went to my doctor and asked him what I should do and what kinds of treatments he could help me with. I quickly realized that he couldn't really help. I was already eating antacids like candy and he didn't think I needed prescription strength antacids and western medicine doesn't have a clue about psoriasis and they don't seem to really care. I went to dermatologist and basically she said it wasn't that bad and I should be happy with over the counter topical treatments. I already knew that they didn't do anything and I hated having them on me. I hate having greasy ointments on my skin, clothes and everything I touch. I was depressed and didn't know what Io was going to do.
Around that time I a had a good friend who was into homeopathic remedies and supplements and she suggested that I try removing wheat from my diet. She had heard somewhere that it helps with digestive problems. So, I decided to stop eating wheat and eventually dairy. When I stopped eating wheat most of my digestive problems went away nearly the next day. Not all of them but I felt much better. With that success I decided to tackle my psoriasis. I felt that if I could do that with eliminating wheat what else could I do. I had hoped that removing wheat would do it and it helped but it was still there. Over the next few years I tried many diets and homeopathic treatments, organic supplements and many other types of unconventional treatments.
In that time I learned a lot about my body, diet, exercise, supplements and the such and I came to an understanding and a plateau of treatment that i could live with. I hadn't eliminated the psoriasis but I had found a diet that seemed to work for me. I was able to maintain a healthy weight, have a relatively normal digestion and keep my psoriasis at bay. I was able to minimize the flaking and redness but it was still spreading around my body. Probably the best part was that I was able to keep the itching at a minimum.
've lived this way for the past few years until about a month ago. when I found what for me is nothing short of a miracle. garlic, simple raw garlic. I can't believe it. I"ve been so obtuse. I know it's a wonderful natural supplement but I never thought about it's effect on psoriasis until that is about a month a go when I got sick. I got really sick, I had, I believe strep throat. I no longer have insurance was not able to go to the doctor. So I started trying different herbal remedies and one of them was I starting eating garlic. Lots of it, raw. I got better and the illness went away but as that was happening I noticed that the psoriasis was going away also. Now I've been eating raw garlic, a lot with every meal for a bout a month and my psoriasis is nearly gone. It's amazing. It's not completely gone and it will flair up if I don't stay to the diet but I am pretty happy with the results. I have scaring from the flaking but I can get over that. At least I'm not shedding, right?
I don't think the garlic alone would work though. I think that diet is important also. I know that my psoriasis reacts to certain foods and carbohydrates are one of the main ones. The diet I advocate is a simple 70-30 diet of eating 70 percent raw green food i.e. vegetables and 30 percent healthy(not processed)fats, oils, carbohydrates and proteins as well as a small amount of sea salt. I also believe in drinking alkaline water and wheat grass.
I found this diet in a book called "The PH Miracle" by Dr, Robert Young. I've have altered the diet to some degree but I think the diet he outlines in his book is pretty solid. I could never make my psoriasis go away. sometimes it would good sometimes bad. I would try all kinds of stuff but until I started eating garlic I've been able to be flake free. I don't know if this is a long term treatment or not. I don't know how it works and really if it works I don't care. I''ll eat garlic every day for the rest of my life.
FYI, I don't think it's easy to do what I have done. I'm not selling you anything. I don't own a garlic farm and I don't care if you buy the book I mentioned. I just think that I have found something could really help people. I have found a personal miracle. I don't know if it will work for you or not but I don't think I can keep this to myself. Please feel free to ask me anything.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
Anyway thanks for the info .
i just read your post, and wanting to know how it's going.
do you still have clearing of the psori?
How much garlic do you eat each day?
any other tips.
i am familiar with Dr. Young's work about the alkaline diet, and i agree about its health benefits.
thanks
