Today was the first day increasing my dose from 500mg 2x daily to 100mg 2x daily. I noticed right away that I didn't feel *quite* as sick. Small difference, but it is there. I imagine coming back off of Diamox, I would experience the opposite, just as you are describing.
The min I come off Diomax, all the swooshing and noise in my ears again.I also get what I would call the "zings". Its a sound, does not hurt but I hate it.Its very fast, and I kinda feel it all over my body.
My thoughts, its pressure on a never some where.
I have the dizziness all the time, but treat it with Cerc, which I find good.
I cant walk with out a stick any more, more for safety reason than falling over. Also, as I have lost so much peripheral vision, he helps to alert people to me as I as am always banging in to people!
As for the cause? I have always put it down to an increase in my pressure, or, maybe, where the csf has settled in your brain?
I know if it settles on my left side of my head, my speech is very effected. Towards the back of my head, its balance.
The one thing I have learned when this happens, its time to take a rest. It helps, a bit .Cath
@Cath- you are so right when I get those feelings I know I should rest. I was having them today and while walking to chair it hit me my legs felt heavy and rubbery. If it hadn't been for my hubby running over I would have feel to the floor in the middle of the about store. I was just getting shoes for my baby girl, uugghh!
@Sea- the electrical vibrating bee sound/feel is dead on. If you feel that all over I'm glad you don't get it often.
@Michael- after 1 week of being off diamox my icp monitoring was showing that my pressure was pretty normal. Even though I told my neuro that my tinnitus and eye pressure were still there he thought I should stay off. It has only gotten worse. I think I respond pretty well to the diamox and just a week off didn't show my true reaction to being off of it. I go see him tomorrow though to talk about the med switch. I never thought I would be asking to please let me take diamox but I know if I don't I'll never be able to go back to work. I'll see what he says.
Once your CSF pressure has gone uncontrolled it seems there's a bijillion different things that can happen depending all on where the additional fluid is allowed to go. I think you've started experiencing additional pressure on some of your cranial nerves.
I hope when you shower now though you have somebody nearby until you're finished; dizziness+plus wet floor&/or tub...
I can assume that the usual circumstances of getting prepared to shower is what exacerbated the symptoms. Maybe having to bend over to pick up anything like your towel or hurrying to get it done, and then the moment you hold your breath if you're stepping into a tub. Be careful don't strain I hope you feel better soon!
@LRsotired-thanks for that tip I'll see how the temp affects me. I'm glad you came out of that black out alright.
