Okay kids...I've taken a turn for the worse. Today has been a horrible day for pain, pressure, nausea and the worst vertigo ever. And that's all happening even with the 1500 mg. dosage of Diamox. Has anyone else experienced this severe vertigo and if so how have you controlled it???

I know this may sound strange but it works for me. For me it feels similar to motion sickness so I will find a focal point and focus on it while trying some meditation. I have also resorted to Dramamine and it did help somewhat but maybe psychosomatic.

Sorry you've had such a bad day and I hope you are feeling better (I can't stand being nauseous). My neuro opth said that vertigo was from the increased pressure compressing the vestibular nerve in the brain. In the past I have taken meclizine (sp?) for vertigo, and it helped (I know it is given to head injury pt's who get dizzy). Hope tomorrow is better! Jazzy

Definitely not psychosomatic...but, nice thought. Doctors say that the pressure is pushing against my vestibular nerve as mentioned by Jazzy. Tried Meclizine, but it didn't help. They have placed me on Valium, not necessarily to treat the vertigo, but to make me not care that the room is spinning. Either way, it is just another sign that the pressure has yet to be relieved.

Also I am not sure you are the only one here entitiled to call us kids. I am after all 102 year old.

Humor a side. I have another drug idea for you. Not that I am a pusher or anything.

My wife took this drug while we off sailing in the Caribbean for a couple of years. She gets seasick and vertigo so always took these before a passage and swears by them. She had no side effects and was able to really enjoy the sailing. They are not available in the USA that we know of. We bought them in Mexico and other pharmacia's down south but the above link is just one of many I found when I googled it.

Well, TJ I'm glad that I haven't scared any of you away. I thought it might be helpful to put a face with the ailment as it is.

I'll have to see if I can get my hands on this Mexican drug. It certainly sounds like it might help. I'll have to give it a try. Thanks for the information. You are always very helpful.
