I normally am way better at this, but after taking my 1st dose I looked up the Topamax ingredients and it has milk in it, which I'm really allergic too... I'm fine it seems right now. The sprinkles doesnt have milk in them, should I go to the pharmacy or call my doctor?

I have taken both of them, Diamox I have had no side effects but for the topamax, my mom said my personalty changed from time to time.

Topamax is evil. Some people are okay on it, but it can stuff your head with cotton and make you stare at the wall for hours at a time. It can make you so confused that not only can you not find your keys, you don't remember if you even have keys. It can make you depressed, make you drink water like a fish, and give you kidney stones or push you into metabolic acidosis. It can cause glaucoma. It can make your skin have festering blisters that peel off like burns and endanger your life. The good news is almost everybody loses weight on the stuff because your apetite will probably be completely gone. When I was on it I had to force myself to eat.

Diamox is also evil. We all know what it can do.

I don't mean to discourage you because you are probably one of the people who are okay on both of them. Right?

YES, call your doctor right away. Have him change your prescription. The drugs alone are enough to deal with without having an allergic reaction on top of it. Plus, if you don't remove the milk products and you have an allergic reaction, you won't know if the reaction is to the Topamax or the milk. The doctors probably wouldn't take the risk of keeping you on the Topamax. If you get a rash or any other reaction they'll pull you off the topamax for good. One more option gone. So get rid of the milk.

By the way, about the festering blisters and skin peeling off thing. It's called Stevens Johnson Syndrome and it is quite dangerous, sometimes fatal. It's early signs are flu-like (sore throat, fever, etc) or swollen glands, later skin rash, later skin peeling off and you land in the burn ward. Don't let it scare you because it is rare, but information is power - since this side effect is so serious you need to know what it looks like so you know if it hits. If you get any of the symptoms call your doctor IMMEDIATELY.

thanks sea! I am already feeling crappy. The weather went from like 30 to upper 70s today im all congested. I took the pill last night before realizing that it had milk in it and I didnt have any symptoms but then again I had a stomach flu and took a immodium the other day so who knows...I will call the doctor this morning when they open up...just hope my insurance doesnt have a fit about it

I was on Topamax for a year before I was diagnosed and put on Diamox. I'm telling you being on both of them well Just call me stupid! the drug interaction site says topamax and Diamox are nonos together. I felt so much better off Dopamax yes Dopamax. I'm still not great but at least now I don't have to worry if I ran the red light. LOL

I was having bad side effects on diamox so my NO switched me to topamax, then I was having different horrible side effects on that and it wasnt working as well as diamox, so my NO recently decided to put me on a lower dose of both at the same time. Its helped a bit, but I have really bad fatigue and stomach aches. It helps if you eat a small snack every time you take your medicine, or take it with meals
