Tingling Face?

I was just wondering if anyone else gets numbness/tingling under and around their eyes or on their cheeks. Sometimes when I touch my face I can barely feel it and when it is really tingly I feel quite sick and can't focus at all. On days when my headache is worse, the tingling is worse.

It is NOT a side effect of the medications because it started before I started taking them. This has been going on for a year so I'm obviously not having a stroke or anything. I have brought it up to my dr and they just ignore me or say it's the meds even though I tell them it started before I was on them!

Does anyone else experience this?

Though I am definitely not a medical professional here's one thought. Heaven's knows pressure on the brain can do just about anything to a person. Maybe what you are experiencing is a form of fifth nerve palsy, a type of damage to the facial nerves. I can't remember who in here has this, but somebody does??? Anyway, it might be worth asking your doctor a question.

(this article goes over the symptoms and treatment. It has a blurb that can be misunderstood - it doesn't say people with Trigeminal neuralgia are crazy, just that some doctors erroneously think they are, and it also pops up disproportionately in a certain population.)

trigeminal neuralgia is something associated with IIH. my mother won't get a spinal tap but I know she has this and her trigeminal neuralgia is awful. that's why I knew I had to do something drastic. you are not describing neuralgia as this is not pain, but it is a nerve symptom in the trigeminal distribution. up to 50% of CSF drainage occurs by way of lymphatics that drain along the cranial nerves. hence, papilledema. I don't see why the same thing is not happening along any of the other cranial nerves: the trigeminal is cranial nerve 5. but I've never seen this concept anywhere. but it makes sense to me that when your ICP is up this will be worse. exercise improves lymphatic flow so if you are able to exercise, see if this helps.

I also get super tingly/numb face, but have always pushed it off on the diamox. However.. When I exersize I have to be VERY careful, (walking will sometimes cause it if I'm doing alot of it, even at a moderate/slow page) my whole head, face, neck shoulders get super tingly and I get light headed. Sitting for 5- 10 minutes, it will go away.

I'm getting it now, my neuro thinks it's from side effects of my meds. I'm on diamox and topomax.

I have been getting numbness along my 5th cranial nerve with the jaw pain. Mostly it's on the left side, but I have also experienced it on the right too. The corner of my eye, above my eyebrow, along my maxilla & mandible too... I take gababpentin daily for it.... 300 at bedtime seems to do the trick but when I was really really sick 900 a day and I was still feeling some of the tingling pins & needles.
