Feeling really dim-witty right now, so please pardon & forgive!
I don't understand how pressure HAs really differ from other HA classes: i.e., migraines, chronic daily, etc. And, why pressure HAs are so hard to treat? If HA pain is nerve-related, why wouldn't TX like prophylactics, abortives and nerve blocks be effective?
I'm only on Diamox + phenergan med-wise - neuro won't RX serious prophylactics for some unknown reason (I think because I have a mood disorder & she's ignoring Psychiatry who says it's ok to RX these meds). But have had:
1) Two IV Migraine cocktails that really didn't break HA pain below a 6;
2) Numerous Botox TX + Occipital (GO, LO, GA) nerve block injections, plus Sphenopalatine Ganglian nerve block injections to boot. The Botox has helped relieve some neck/shoulder tension, but only drops the skull base HA down by about 1 point. The Occipitals really have done nothing overall. The Sphenos showed initial success in reducing the pain behind/around the eyes, but only lasted less than 1 week.
I don't get it and am assuming that I'm missing some structural difference as it would seem that all HA pain is referred from one/some of the nerve sets. Thoughts?
