There is a study can be found on the IHRF website : www.ihrfoundation.org but it is a little different than you described. It's been a long time since I read it so forgive me if I miss anything...
I think the study was done in Sweeden and they were trying to figure out whether obesity caused PTC or PTC became a factor in patients becoming Obese (PTC folks have a hard time with cardio due to pain, dizziness, vision problems) It's been a debate going on for years and years.
The study was inconclusive, but scientists thought it yielded enough info to continue with more research...not sure what happened after that.
Your average neuro will say Loose weight, spinal tap, and Diamox.
This does not work for everyone.
People of all shapes and sizes get PTC. If you choose to loose weight, try taking the PTC pressure off. Do it for you and you only. Do it for your own personal health reasons.
However, in my 17 years with PTC, I've known many people who have lost 50+ pounds and the PTC did not go away, and then other folks loose 5 lbs and they go into remission.
So, After I've talked way to much, regarding weight and PTC, the most current studies and research conclude that That the Jury is still out.

Anyway, someone here participated in the study. It included a few factors and eating right and weight management was one of them.
Good luck
