Oh, any by the way, Benadryl makes my legs hurt and makes me cranky, so other than that please!!!

Have you tried just the benedryl sticks or lotion?

I can get a million bug bites and my husband could sit next to me and not get a single one! It's very frustrating!

I have been told that increasing your B vitamins deters mosquitos and such from biting. I can't say if it is 100% true or not since I'm like on a million antihistimines if I get bit I usually don't even know it.

Ice works to help a bit. I second the thought of putting on the gel or cream benedryl. I had a horrible rash when I was in the hospital after surgery (apparently I'm allergic to their tape) and I used the cream religiously. Sorry I do not have more to offer...

The Aveeno bath helped me a bit, but since it has been hours now, they are JUST now starting to itch a little. I will definitely try Benadryl sticks and cream later!

What kind of bug is biting you? For mosquito bites, a dab of clear nail polish will keep the oxygen from getting in and that will stop the itching. Same for chiggers. For stings, meat tenderizer or raw potato cut in half where the stinger was.

I am doing better than my previous surgery that is for sure! And it has made me much more optimistic that things are going better this time around.

Interesting about the tape. I have very red marks and even blisters where the tape was taken off my inscision bandages. Very red and irritated. Feel like layers of skin came off!

Cowgirl, I usually keep dabbing the benedryl lotion on for several days until the itch calms down. I have never tried nail polish! Will give that w whirl too!

Amy...if it still has to be bandaged try using Tagaderm bandages! That's all I can use...small epic pharmacies sometimes have them!

calamine lotion helps the itch big time. also hydrocortizone cream.
as for keeping them away, eat lots of garlic.
i used to be like that, my mom never got bit by anything but i was being attacked. i fiannlly started likeing garlic and i stopped getting bit.
now i cook with garlic and none of my family gets bit by anything.
Im glad your feeling better today, try not to scratch to much! lol

my incisions are closed with steri strips and I don't have to keep it bandaged anymore, just dry. I do have tape residue all over me that I tried rubbing off with baby oil. Then I washed the sores and put peroxide and neosporin on the raw skin and blisters. I haven't had that happen before. Ouchie!

I am actually getting around pretty well and much more comfortable this time around. Thanks for asking. My mother-in-law took my kids for the week so I just have to take it easy. :)

Cowgirl, Hearing you tak about getting bit by bugs. You remind me of that woman on Housewives of New Jersey, can't think of her name. Teresa Guidice, she says she has sweet blood, all bugs bite her first. Maybe you have sweet blood!!!!!! LOL

Ky - I am thinking of looking into buying garlic pills tomorrow. I am on a diet now so I will not eat it on like bread or anything, maybe chicken! I will see.

I am definitely going to get garlic pills!

Just an FYI -- I have used alcohol swabs and also the OTC stuff "Afterbite" and I feel better!
