First of all, I hope y'all are holding up fairly well!
My neurologist has increased my dosage of my seizure medication. I usually take two pills in the morning, two in the afternoon, two at night. He now wants me to take three at night.
He has pretty much confirmed that I do have epilepsy. :( I hoped it was just a dang seizure disorder!
There has apparently been mention between doctors there that if Tegretol fails with me and we try another and it fails, we resort to surgery...and that is cutting out a piece of my brain where the seizures originate...UHHHH...no!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyhow...that "episode" I had at the Carrie Underwood concert that y'all read about? He told me that that 100% was a seizure. So...yay...for...that...(not!)
I am also on Topomax now. He has me starting on 25mg at night for a week, then 25mg in the morning and at night for a week, then 50mg in the morning and night and staying there. He wanted to work me up slowly since I had those side effects before.
Topomax is also an anti-seizure medication so let us hope that gives me an extra kick!
For the The Band Perry (YAYYYY!!!) & Brad Paisley concert on Saturday night, I will be taking a Xanax prior to it beginning. I told him I appreciated his advice on "avoiding concerts," but not gonna happen. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love music...and live country music!? Heck yes! Call me reckless...I only get to have fun at certain points.
He also told me that the best way for me to lose weight is to swim. To join a gym or YMCA and start swimming. So that is what I am gonna do! Obviously diet, too, but that is what I will do for exercise!
I forgot to mention my ears to him...I will call tomorrow to leave a message for him!

I know what you mean about your love for concerts. I can't go now because of my health but I love to hear your stories here. Kind of takes me back to when I use to go all the time. I was a concert going mo-fo...and still am lol! Ya never loose it.

The swimming will be awesome! Well, if you're a water baby like I am. I love swimming! I'd swim every day if I could.
I can't wait to hear about this weekends concert and see the pics and stuff!

Brandee - I already planned to take sunglasses with me. They will be with me anyhow because all four of us are staying overnight in Hershey, PA (where the concert is) so I plan to take the Xanax and have my mom keep and eye on me and if I seem to be pretty much zoned out (not from the Xanax, from a seizure, like in a totally different state of mind, unable to communicate, but concious) then she will put my sunglasses on for me and hopefully that will help cut the length of the seizure down. Last time it lasted about 20-30 minutes...we plan to not have that happen! Plus I will have a higher level of Tegretol AND the Topomax in my system by Saturday night, so yeah! Here's to hoping all helps...
