So sorry.. I had my 4th one on Saturday night. I'm sort of use to it now. The first one was scary to me but went well BUT please listen to the doctors instruction for after care. I thought I was following doctors orders but I end up having to have a blood patch done because of a leak. The leak was AWFUL my head hurt soooo bad and I could not lift my head up. I walked with it down and cried. As soon as the patch was done I was fine. I truly hope all goes well with you....:-))))))

Good Luck - and enjoy the rest and relief (afterward) LO'L Take care of yourself. I've had only 2 LPs but the fear doesn't go away even though both of mine went like clockwork...I know the risks so that's always in the back of my mind.

Thanks guys. It went well. This is my fourth LP over the last two years and luckily my neuro is awesome and I've never had any issues. However, it is still nerve wracking and I always worry about getting the dreaded low pressure HA afterwards.

Unfortunately, my OP was 40, which is the highest it's ever been. I'm on 2000mg of Diamox, so that's no bueno. But, the neuro wants to keep me at my current dose for a little longer to see what happens. He also wants me to get another MRI which is kind of freaking me out. He says it's just to check in since it's been two years, but it still scares me.

So glad it went well and hope you didn't get a HA, but sorry to hear your pressure was up :( Did the drain help at all with your HA's or other symptoms, that's a pretty high number. I didn't like the Diamox and I was only on a low dose of 250 x a day....I can't imagine the side effects from 2000! I'm getting tapered off now and I'm nervous, so we will see if the symptoms return or not....I hope I'm in remission! Don't we all!...LOL

HI JT, its been a while since ive talked to you. sorry to hear your pressure is up. I was on high doses of diamox too. when that wasnt working alone they added lasix to it at the same time. it was awful and made me quite sick but it helped the pressure some. for a bit anyway. for me my pressures never came down, i had surgery within 3 months of dx. so youve made it much longer than me. praying you never need a shunt. i hope your doing well.

Thanks Ky. I have been doing very well on Diamox and my symptoms have been managed well with minimal side effects for the last year. And then a month or so ago, bam! Out of nowhere my pressure went haywire and I've been having a rough time. Hoping this LP will "reset" me. Right now I have a low pressure headache from the tap so I feel like I can't catch a break.
