pretty much that website you pulled up and here, a lot of people here in this support group have been though the ringer with it all. When i need to know something i haven't seen covered else where i ask it here/ search old threads.

some people here are really great at digging up medical websites that have info on varies issues.

I also like the Mayo Clinic site at http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/pseudotumor-cerebri/DS00851. It's not too technical with a lot of advanced detail, but when you're new to all of this, it's a palatable overview you can get your head around.

Pub Med has some great studies for pseudotumor and related conditions that can sometimes apply to
Seudotumor patients as well. The people here are very knowledgeable and will often give websites when the post to give a point of reference so that it isn't like they are pulling info out of a hat.
We also have extensive knowledge based on experience. It's great you are going to do research. Often times doctors do not educate their patients or don't know answers to your questions, or are arrogant. Doctors often times respect you more if you know about your conditions and know courses of treatment for pseudo tumor.

I love PubMed, any site with medical trails, opinions, and theory. I steer clear of sites that quote verbal garbage, the ones that restate misinforrmation. Many in the medical field have no experiece, data, thought or even an interest concerning our health. You will learn a lot here, there are several highly intellegent people here that have done more research and theorize more than most in the field have done or care to do.
If you have a question or think you see a pattern in your health, please, search past posts, I bet youll find that someones discussed it. Many of us do that after Drs tell us that is not a symptom of this or that, then after comparing here you find out that it is, and your not suffering alone.
To date, this group has the most comprehensive database knowns MEDICALLY for our disease, ain't that a shame that we and our NOs are the ugly step children, with little funding, and even less concern. Were in hopes to have our list be considered the ultimate IIH guide for patients and medically alike.

Kander, this is with out a doubt the best site,we are all members of it.
If you request to join they will send you on all the info they have to date, plus, a very long! joining up form.
They request all your history, plus asking for your drs contact details to access all your films.
I have been with them from the beginning, and it seemed at the time ,I was the only person from Ireland with IIH.
Since then, I have made many many friends here and even found my lovely friend Mary who,only lives 20 mins down the road from me!

At last count, there are now 6 of us with IIH in Ireland.
As Mary said, we have covered just about everything ourselves, but when we don't know the answer to something, the IHRF do. You can always e-mail them. It may take a few days to get back to you but they will.

Why do you have increased pressure?

Did physician try to find out what is causing this or did they stop with diagnosis? Treat the symptom and look for the cause.

An exhausting dig through my life went on for over a year and a half and 3 different doctors before I ended up at the mayo clinic (in phoenix, az) with a diagnosis. No cause was found linking my increased pressure.

What I've found through the years is if they actually find a cause (ie:bcp, antibiotics, etc), it could open up avenues for litigation. My old neurosurgeon was the only one who actually gave verbal credence to my suspicion that my first round of PTC was caused by birth control pills. And he would only do that off the record - meaning he would never admit that he said it.

I believe that this round of PTC was triggered by two rounds of Keflex to treat Cellulitis in my foot. Oddly enough, the foot that had the cellulitis was the same foot I had cellulitis in when I was 8. GOOD GOD - it seems like all my medical ghosts are coming back to haunt me!!!!

Kander, go with your gut about what you feel may have been the catalyst to your condition - you know your body better than anyone.

This months neurology mag had a article about rare diseases I'm on my cell I'm not sure if it's only published in print but it had some ideas , I only skimmed.
