I was recently diagnosed, and I have a lot of stiffness and soreness in my upper back and neck. I carry all of my stress and tension in my shoulders already, so this just makes it worse. But I do understand what you mean. My husband has to do all of the bathing of our 2 year old now because I can't lift him out of the tub without feeling like my back is going to go out. Hang in there. Some days are better than others. I try to focus on those. It does seem that when I have headaches, I feel as if my back was hit by a truck as well.

same here, my back is a total mess, then again I have arthritis from the very top of my spine to the very bottom of my spine, (from being a kid and falling down a BUNCH of wooden stairs on my tailbone the whole way down) along with a few friendly bulging discs. Still not sure whether the one in my neck actually has ruptured but there is possible. SO, for me it is hard to tell, is it IH, arthritis, or discs or stress? At this point I don't even care, lol I just want a med that will work for pain, I have so many and can't take a darn one, lol ANYWAY you are not alone.

Count me in ....i have terrible backaches ....but just sometimes and I though that was weird . Sometimes they wake me out of sleep and I can't lie down .

I usually feel so much better after talking to you guys on here. It's like I am not crazy. I'm not crazy.
Than there is the other times I say OH NO is that going to happen to me. But I'm getting ready I will be ready. The sad thing is I am single and I know I really need to tell someone about the tink that may come incase they catch me unaware but there is noone. What am I to do. When it happens to me?

Neck, shoulder,back pain and stiffness are all a part of this nice little package of symptoms we house! I have swelling on the back part of my neck at the base of my skull. Shoulders hurt, back feels like it's gonna break in two and stiffness keeps me from standing straight. I've read from several sources that these are symptoms of IIH. Maybe we should send our husbands to be massage therapists!!!!!! Just a thought! hehe

Randie , do you see a therapist ? Maybe someone like that can help you with resources . They can also point you in the right direction for community support and social work . Many times if you reach out you will find a hand waiting for you and that sounds like what you are trying to do ...Good luck

YES! the pressure of the CSF in my spine caused me to have 3 ruptured disks in my lower back... For about 6 months, that was my diagnosis, back pain/sciatica. I went in for an epidural and the IH was diagnosed then... my back simply gave out under the pressure.

YES! It is very normal to have back pain with IH. Remember...the CSF is not only squeezing your brain but also your spinal cord! When my pressures were high I would often experience upper back and neck stiffness and pain. As the pressures rose, my lower back also became very painful and it became so bad that I couldn't sit or stand for longer than 5 minutes without crying in pain. The worst part was I could no longer eat dinner at the kitchen table with my family, because I couldn't sit in a chair. This is one of the things my shunt has been able to fix and thankfully I no longer have back pain like I once did.
