Pseudotumor Cerebri Support Group
Pseudotumor cerebri (PTC) is a neurological disorder that is characterized by increased intracranial pressure, in the absence of a tumor or other diseases affecting the brain or its lining. Diagnosis requires brain scans and lumbar puncture. Characteristic symptoms are headache, transient visual obscurations or transient visual loss in one or both eyes usually lasting...
Again, don't quote me...but I've had it happen. I had low potassium give me a seizure once. Obviously it was really, really low then, but you get my point.
And if it's something else, like medication...you need him for that, too! :p
Let me know how it goes??
It was way before the diamox, and before my dx. I do think it was from IH because I was very sick when I was getting them. Either way, they went away on their own. I went to see a neuro about it and his answer was that some people have a low tremor threshold. He did give me an EEG (?) and some other types of tests. In the end they found nothing though.
I would check with your neuro. He will probably have you do some testing.
I am very interested to see what they say!
They worry me. It's definitely a neurological problem, but it could be related to the traumatic brain injury I had as a child and the many concussions I've had since then. I don't know what it means for me, but keep track of it, especially if it gets worse.
Anyway I guess he didn't think it was important to comment that the CL or the potassium were where they are. Instead he told me I should be happy because since May I've lost 11 lbs. yes I should freakin thrilled to pieces. I started out on a 1200 calorie/day diet, 60 minutes of cardio(which should be enough to make me lose a lot of weight) now I am on a 6-800 calorie/day diet, on a prescription diet meds from my neuro, still doing 60 mins of cardio 7 days a week and after 4 wks like that...I've lost a whopping 5 lbs. Yep I'm celebrating alright. Sorry I don't mean to sound negative I am just so tired of playing their games!
Your potassium was only "normal" by 0.1? That annoys me, lol. Yes, it is technically normal, but a lot of PTC sufferers have potassium issues...you may want to eat a little extra potassium for a few days just to get that up. My primary doctor has actually thrown out the word hypokalemia (low potassium for those who don't know). I have not been given the actual diagnosis of that, but every time I see her, we talk about how I have to take OTC potassium pills. I can tell when I need it, though, because my body will get crampy, achy, or my body will twitch. I twitched all of my life up until I was taken to the hospital looking like I had turrets once. Once they checked my blood, they put me on IV drip potassium and my mom said that as it was going in, she could just see my body calming down and the twitching stop. Ever since then, it's been what I've used! It made me delirious when my potassium was so low, I was so out of it...I have hardly no memory of it. They had to use five bags of potassium and four pills, that's how low it was! Crazy stuff.
So anyhow...I'd just try to get an extra dose for a couple days. Even if that's not what the issue is, you mentioned cramping...it will at least help that.
As for the chloride, I don't know much about that, honestly...I have only ever had one thing off in my blood and you just heard it!
Girl, I am having trouble losing weight, too. My neurologist wants me to work on losing one pound a week. It's not unrealistic. I think I have? It's so hard to tell because it can fluctuate when my period is coming...I hate being a woman sometimes!! :(
