Great APP for sodium tracking!

If you are trying to manage your sodium intake or if you are just dieting in general, and have a smart phone I found a great APP called Sodium 1. You can put your goals in there as far as sodium intake and will track your progress throughout the day. You can also track calories on this, your water intake and exercise. One of the great features as well is a list of common foods and restaurants and the sodium items for their menu items. It's really handy. Just thought I'd share.

I told my daughter about it. Thanks. On a different note, we have been trying to cook everything low sodium. I use a weight watchers dish for fried rice and use the low sodium soy sauce. Boy was I shocked when I checked it last night and found out that one tablespoon has 550. We use a fourth a cup in the recipe. Low sodium... yeah right. Not. They shouldnt be able to call that low sodium. Shame on them. LOL Anyway I learned a valuable lesson, to check for myself. Does anyone know what is the max of sodium my daughter should have a day?

Yep, I learned my lesson about reading labels too! The other day I was out and hungry so I went to Chick-fila. Thought I was safe getting the grilled chicken sandwich with no condiments and I didn't get the fries. Then, I looked at the app and saw that the sandwich actually has 1800mg of sodium and the fries only have 170mg!

I'm going to ask my Dr. on Thursday what sodium level would be good. I saw this on a website, but I don't really know what's appropriate for us...

"A lower-sodium diet is good for people who are older, who are of African American descent, or who have high blood pressure or diabetes. These folks should limit their sodium intake to no more than 2,3002,400 mg a day. People with heart failure or kidney disease are advised to keep their sodium intake under 2,000 mg a day."
