My mom, whom I love dearly, was living in AZ when I was dignosed with IH. She has just recently moved back to KY. I can't seem to get her to look at (whatever it is you have) as she says as a real problem and not just a headache. She is a very loving woman, maybe it has to so with the fact that 15 years ago we lost my younger brother to brain cancer. He had a tumor. A little while ago while sitting here at work I got so sick to my stomach,I thought I was going to have to make a trip to the restroom. I sent her a text explaing to her how I felt. She replies... but u didn't take that pill today (refering to diamox) .. so I tell her that its not the pill that makes me sick like this. So then she sends back... you're not pregnant so stop it... ugh. I give up. For an hour today I read off endless info to her about IH. So what? Take her to my neuro with me? I don't know anymore. She hasn't seen me like this before because since she has been back I've.been ok. I had a spinal tap done and that mixed with diamox kept the fluid down for a good while. I've been healthy untill the past month of so I guess. I'm just tired of trying to get her to understand this isn't just something I can take tylenol for. I would never wish her to feel this so I can't say of she only spent one day in my body. That would her cruel. Idk. I guess I just needed to vent to someone who really understands
I'll admit that I ave sometimes wished that people could know what it is I feel for short periods. Now my mom is having headaches that are very similar to mine, although hopefully with a different cause. Before, she would tell me that they couldn't be that bad and she's a nurse! A few days ago she told me that she finally understands what it is I go through and she's sorry about all the things that she said before and she doesn't know how I can do it without pain meds.
Anyway, vent away, it's the one thing that kind of helps. I hope that your mom can find some way to be more understanding with you and maybe taking her with you to your neuro appt may help.

As a mother myself, I have to show compassion to my children while still being strong when they panic, and I say with an open heart to you because it is easy for our children to overly panic, and full of anxiety when they do not feel confidence and some stabilty from their parents when there is anything that is not "normal".
It could also be the case that your mother is in a place where she needs to take care of "her" mentally at the time, this happens sometimes. My mom is in this mode with her adult children. It happens.
