does topamax help with weight loss?

My Dr put me on topamax for my headaches and said it will help with me losing weight. Anyone on it experienced weight loss?

If you are asking if drinking gallons of water that fills you up, a total loss of apatite, not being able to taste food, being too depressed to cook it even if you could taste it, having no energy to cook even if you have the motivation, nausea that could make you throw the food up anyway... then yeah. It helps you lose weight.

Everybody reacts differently to different drugs. I lost a little weight on Topamax. Some people gain (though most don't!). It's a pretty sure bet that it'll be easier to diet.

My first month on Topirimate was nausea all the time, feeling sick at the thought of food. I didnt throw up often, but i felt like i was going to throw up as soon as i ate anything so i mostly didn't bother. I spent weeks eating 2 pieces of dry toast a day - But my head was so bad that i couldnt get off the sofa at all to do anything, so i really didnt need much food.
Topirimate didnt help me anyway - i was on it for 2 months before i started diamox, then the diamox started to help my head, then took me another 4 months on diamox to find a better dose.
Anyway back to topic - I am still on 100mg Topirimate per day and my nuero like to use both. my energy, motivation, and taste were ok on topirmate. but i lost taste once i started diamox too. The nausea lessened after a few months but i still have little appetite. I was 247lb (112kg) in Sep and I am now 218lb (99kg). So thanks to Topiramate I have lost 30lbs in 5 months.
all you have to do is feel sick all the time and eat practically nothing but I cant say i ever felt hungry. lol.

I have been on Topamax for over a year. I take 250mg/day, and it didnt help me (well a little in the beginning, as someone else stated). I lost 20 lbs. but May have lost it anyway. Because I was feeling better, not because of the medice. I just got off of it, so they can do a 2 day pressure test... coming off was easier then I thought. I had the nausea again, which had went away previously. I just didnt like the way it made it impossible to do anything physical (like going on a jog, or working out) It made me feel like my head was gonna pop, and like i was going to pass out.
