I feel like lately all I do is complain and I promise that is not the kind of person I am or was or want to be. I think I have reached maximum capcity on my stress level lately. Today really was a simple thing but it came on the heels of a much larger thing so it felt 1000x worse.
I have chronic sinus problems and had been battling a bad infection for a few weeks. This weekend I got hit with a killer tension headache on top of the sinus pressure/headache. I have been putting off going to the doctor for an antibiotic because the last two times I had one they gave me stuff I couldn't have with PTC, despite knowing I have it. Today I broke down and went in and saw my internal medicine doc. He looked at me and was like between what you are allergic to and what you can't have with PTC I really don't have anything to offer you. He said "I can give you Azythromycin but it doesn't kill the bacteria that is to blame for 90% of bacterial sinusitis, so don't expect it to work." I was like I don't want it if it isn't going to help. I said look 3 of the antibiotics I am allergic to were mild reactions, they quit using them with me because of how allergic I was to penicillian, so try one of them, I don't care if I break out in hives as long as I can still breathe, I just don't want to go through increased pressure again and I can't stand these sinus infections.
So what do I get sent home with...Azythromycin and the instructions if it doesn't work then they will put me on Levaquin and increase my dose of Diamox. I refuse to do that. I will let the freakin sinus infection eat a hole in my face before I willing do something that is going to increase my pressure especially when I KNOW that is what cause my episode in May.

You could give that a try. I know honey, garlic, chicken soup, stuff like that helps. Or if you have a local health food store they could probably help you.

It may be something you've answered before, but have you seen an ENT or allergist that knows what they're doing? I think I remember you saying that you moved not that long ago and I know that you're probably limited in the docs you can see.
Also have you ever tried using a neti (sp?) pot? I used to make my own saline solution. I usually followed the American Allergy Association Recipe

I have anaphylatic reactions to Penicillian and have had hives while taking Erythromycin, Cephlax and Sulfa drugs so they won't give me those, although I begged today to try those and said I'd live with the hives I just need to get rid of this infection. He gave me Azythromycin (which is in the family of Erythromycin but said it would be ok) but told me that it might not work against my sinus infection...which makes me not even want to try because I don't want to waste an antibiotic on something that won't work.
I do flush my sinuses with a homemade saline solution and use nasonex too. My sinuses are just a nightmere, as my last ENT described them. :-/
