I've been on Diamox for about 20 years now and the whooshing noise never seems to go away. I wish I could say it did.

It took a long time, taking Diomax before the whooshing ceased, but it did, for me.
As soon as I came off it, it was back with in days and has never left. I find it builds up with the day, hitting at its worst between 6.00- 12.00 pm
The only time it cleared up completely, was after an lp. Cath.

1500 of Diamox and still had swooshing sound. The last LP did get rid of it and the headache but all has returned in just 5 days. UUGHH. What to do next?

My paps went down on the medicine, but the whooshing never went completely away..(I've been on Diamox a year now) I see the NO tomorrow and i think he may release me or take me off the Diamox.. I'm a little worried about that.

I've heard that for most, this disease can disappear. I've been on and off Diamox for 20 years, but mostly on it. Every time my doctors take me off, I end up with a flare-up of symptoms and have to go back on it. What scares me is I have no idea what this medication is doing to my body. I'm taking a pretty high dose, 1500 mg, but I have been as high as 2000. The side effects have pretty much just become a part of life. After awhile, you get use to them. Right now I am having a flare-up. The weather definitely has something to do with how I feel. There is a storm on the way and I definitely feel it. Spring has always been the worst time of the year for my symptoms.

The wooshing comes and goes but i've noticed it's not as much as it used to before i was on diamox... but i couldn't tell you why it wooshes more sometimes then others. Before i was DX it would annoy me once a day it seems like now i can go a few days before i hear it and go grr!

I was DX'ed a year ago April,had an LP shunt put in Sept 22 2010,I was on 250 mg's x a day,it stopped working thats why I had to have the surgery,I'm also not your tyoical case soaking wet I'm only about 120 lbs and always have been.So 112 lbs to 120 lbs,I do beleive something else drives or has caused the IIH,sstill in the proccess of finding this out.That whooshing sound has never gone away,My LP Is adjustable,My pressure has never really been that high ,however Doc has moved the setting 4 times I'm now at 100,It moves by 10,if I go down to 90 i go into low pressure headaches higher i go into high pressure headachesAfter Surgery I had a diff. thought I was thinking things would get better.I had alot of Fluid build up Hydrocephalus a few times.Most intense Pain EVER ! I also have Cronic sinuses Witch just adds flame to the fire ! I started having Very high pressure MigrainesI still do daily and I'm a few meds for that I did start the Diamox 4 mths ago had to go back on it I only take 1 pill at night 250mgs I'm so frighten my pressure will drop to low,The vomitting,and sick feeling its not worth it to me I have learned to live with the intense pain of the migraines I also have cronic baady pain I thought I had MS with this IIh I'm now rethinking this since I;ve found the Sarc sight here,Its like the ugly truth I ve been looking for but dont want to face ( a mirror ) It's every thing I am and have been through inthe last 3 years.So with my unusually case of IIH and after surgery I;m still currently loosing eye sight in my Right eye off and on still have optic nerve swelling,its still confuses me I just thought differently,With my evoked test it is showing a steady decrease in vision,If i'm lucky i will get tree more years but my test patterns are topping at 2 years,so i'm scared !All I keep hearing is its the disease proccess nothing else they can do ): Thats some of my story ,,sorry to unload,but know alot if not all of us touch this matter to some degree so Thank you ! ? So I just joined this group because I have been sick for over a year now had every test possible. And then I had a spinal tap in november and they were still unsure what was wrong with me. Decided to go see a neurologists and he finally diagnosed me with a pseudotumor. The other drs were treating me like a pseudo. But they wouldn't give a definitive diagnosis the new neuro finally said that is what I have. Im on acetazolamid 2000 mg a day, I still have headaches and nausea and the sounds in my head drive me crazy. I have constant high ringing in my ears, is that a normal symptom? I hear wooshing, I hear what sounds like fireworks in the complete silence. I have so many questions and don't seem to get any answers. The drs say surgery or meds? I already take 2000 mg of acetazolmid and a potassium pill and now he wants to start me on diamox since the headaches wont stop. If anyone has any suggestions or info they want to share w/ me I would greatly appreciate it. Inane one more thing the tingly from the meds does that go away or is there anything that helps?
