I take 500mg of Diamox twice per day and 100 mg of Topamax once a day. I am fairly certain that the headaches and vision issues that are a constant are not attributed to IIH it is from the meds. I have not taken them in a few days and I actually feel better. I went to the ER last week for a major headache that would not respond to anything I did at home and they said that my optic nerves are not very swollen. The meds work and I need them but they are horrible.
Some people can react badly to different medications - and if you look on the medication information leaflet in Diamox you will indeed see that a possible side effect is strangely enough headache. If you don't get on with it, i suggest that you talk to your neurologist as there are other medications that you can try instead of diamox that might help your IIH, if you need medication to control your symptoms. Also many on here have had success controlling their symptoms with diet and life style. Personally, I have had great success with a gluten free diet, which is linked to reducing swelling in the brain.
