So I finally had a decent doctors apt, well actually two since I saw both my neuro and my internal med doc on the same day! I managed to convince him (internal medicine doc)to do a sleep study, which ironically my neurologist laughed at and was like "of course you have sleep apnea I can tell you that without a sleep study." I also am having all my labs run because he suspects either anemia or my potassium is off and is causing my heart palpitations (leaning towards anemia). But perhaps the best/scariest news was that my neuro wants me to start decreasing my Diamox down from 500mg to 250mg /day. He said he thinks I am going into remission and wants to ease me off. I'm thrilled at the news but scared stupid cause I don't want a relapse or do anything to bring back all the horrible IH symptoms!
What if you go on a bipap after a sleep study and your IH disappears entirely? Or at least gets a little better! Excuse me for saying so but your neuro is ill informed because even if he "knows" you have apnea, the sleep study is needed to titrate the cpap/bi-pap machine and write a prescription for it. He seems to not even know basic medicine. Or he doesn't care.
I am so happy you finally found a good internal medicine doctor. Often times they'll talk to your other providers for you, too, to facilitate communication or to help "quarterback" your care. Hooray!
