Michelle did you get your ct scan done at a hospital? I am surprised they did not call back up into to get the IV or a pic line in for the contrast. Was this for a diagnosis or check up? Checking the vascular system is very important so I hope this can be rescheduled for you. I have really poor veins and usually someone from ICU or the lab or cardiology gets called in after several attempts. I'm used to the routine. At any rate, I hope your scan results are ok.

It wasn't done at a hospital. The guy that tried with no success went to get the doctor and the doctor said no, you tried 3 times. :( this was to rule out anything else. The neurologist doesn't think there is anything but they have to rule everything out. now I wait to hear from the doctor, I called them and let them know it had the ct scan and what was next. sounds like lumbar puncture.

Michelle, sorry you had to get poked so much. One thing I am learning is that quite often doctors are in a hurry to catch up on their busy schedule. Its understandable. Another thing I'm learning is that i have to be my own best advocate. I don't like the sound of that, it's unacceptable care to me. I've been in situations like that. Yet I know we have to weather so many medical situations. Hope the results are in your favor, I find it helpful sometimes to have an aggrsive loved one accompany me so if their is a lack of responsiveness they can raise heck, I'm learning to do that for myself, but it's challenging. I heard from the neurologist on fri and they are going ahead with a lumbar puncture. Im sure he will talk to me about the ct scan. So things are moving along just not as fast as what I would like. Dealing with headaches aren't any fun.

My ct scan showed it was normal, now for an LP what are looking for, or do they just measure the pressure?

If this is your first LP they may also send the collected fluid to the lab for testing to rule out virus or other pathogens. Make sure to ask the doctor doing the procedure your opening and closing presures. Your may even hear him or her state it to the others helping and recording the procedure.
Will this be done at a hospital? You should be on your side, in a semi fetal position when the do the punture. Good luck to you. Relax, take deep breathes, and for me it helps to focus on one spot in front of your eyes, or close your eyes and breathe deeply. If done correctly it is not painful, but I know I still get a bit nervous anyway.

It will be done in his office. no the ct scan was done at a office that does cts, mris, mammograms. NO it was to rule out anything else it could be.
