Barometric pressure

Has anyone found a way to combat any of the increased head pain when the barometric pressure drops? I've been battling through at about a seven for the last week or so. Then, a bit before the storms started I noticed the level skyrocketed.

My husband has been talking about getting a job out west to avoid these, and today I would be willing to go...

My head is easier to live with now that I am taking L-lysine daily. On the really bad weather days that tie in with the barometric pressure and storms, etc., I may take an extra lysine and throw in my rarely taken one ibuprofen, and I find that I can get through those stinker weather patterns a lot better, tremendously better. There are some contradictions for taking lysine, such as pregnancy and some heart ailments, so if you try this route, best consult your doctor. I also have altered my diet to reduce an abundance of foods having higher levels of nitrate and nitrite content. Do a search on this forum for nitric oxide if you wish to see how higher nitric oxide levels are associated with headaches. I believe there is a similar relationship involved (such as with migraines and IH) - that of a broken nitric oxide system within the body. In the meantime, you may find this information helpful:

Hi Kristina, I most definitely see a huge difference in my head pressure on days like that.

Kristina, I meant to mention that it may be helpful to keep L-lysine on hand to take for those particular weather events to see if it makes a difference for you or not, that is if, of course, your doc is fine with such an experiment. You may find it to be helpful in taking the edge off anyway.

I used to get really bad heads when the barometric pressure dropped suddenly when my ICP was still up- not great for a rainy island nation getting the gulf stream on the edge of the Atlantic. But that has resolved now i have gotten my pressure low enough so i dont have any magic tips sorry - I put lowering my ICP down to enough diamox, gluten free low sodium diet and there was also resultant weight loss from that diet. But if there was a magic answer for lowering ICP non of us would be here :(

I dont see baro as a separate condition its just simple physics. lowering the pressure outside of a system causes the pressure inside the first system to expand. hence your brain and everything swells when the pressure outside drops - this raises the ICP because your skull is fixed. just some are more sensitive to this pain then others. Its the same as some are more sensitive to a raise in blood pressure swelling the brain and causing pain. For a short answer i would suggest trying anti-inflammatory and maybe cooling treatments to reduce swelling if its a muggy storm.??
