How wonderful for you. On the weight note, have you visited with an Endio to discuss this?

Mary yes I have! Don't even get me started on the endo! lol According to the bloodwork I have subclinical HYPERthyroidism so I should be losing weight just sitting on the couch, but of course I am not. The endo said I must be eating to much because some HYPER patients over eat because they are hungry all the time (not even remotely close to me). He also said if he treats me for being HYPER I will gain weight so I shouldn't want to be treated. By the end of the appt basically this is what I got, "yes my labs say I'm HYPER, but I don't look, act like someone who is, infact I'm more symptomatic of someone who is HYPO. I must be overeating because I am overweight or not trying hard enough." But since I was HYPO as a child and the tests are now suggesting I am HYPER he is going to run some more tests and do a thyroid uptake scan (next week) so we will see.
I had left there so disheartened because I try so hard (70 mins of cardio 7 days a week and a 1000-1200 cal/day diet.) For years my primary care doctors have told me it is simiple physics calories in have to be less then calories out and that I am not trying hard enough or that the half of a french fry I ate 3 yrs ago made me gain weight and not be able to lose it (ok slight exageration but seriously sometimes it feels like that is what they are saying). So when Dr. Hajmurad (neuro) told me he believed me, I couldn't help but start crying because I was so happy to hear someone say they believed me.

Ohhhh ok i c now, what an endio. Hum think he was assho instead of endio. I think they need to try again with new testing, did u get cortisol 24 hr urine test three times and mri with contrast, our endio states someone with weight gain that cant loose, whacky labs, can be caused by tumors elsewhere in the body and its not pseudo tumor, its real tumor. These Dr.s dont try hard enough thats the issue it entails them actually working for the money we give them. Now i think about it, this is one of the few professions where you get paid in advance to blow smoke up peoples ass, and get ti play dodgeball with em after u mess em up sometimes permanantly, or you get to accuse someone of being clinically off ur rocker when they piss u off and ppl believe you cause you name is followed by MD or another initial. Well from now on my name is Dr. Mary, PHD, ABC, FU,ING.

LOL you are funny Mary. My labs are normal for everything except the TSH. I did have an ultrasound done and it said I had a multinodular goiter. I did have the cortisol test done years ago. They did 6 tests...one was the suppression test. 3 where high (70's with a normal being 22) and the other three where normal. The suppression test was in the normal range so they deemed me fine. Three years ago in Colorado I saw a doctor who I thought was crazy but offered an explination that no one else had offered for my weight. He said he thought it was because of my severe enviromental allergies. When they did the allergies testings. I was testing 4+ on everything (grasses, trees, molds, weeds, etc even dogs and cats) He said that the allergies accounted for not sleeping well and that meant I was stressing my body (answering the high cortisol level problems) and the weight problem. So he sent me to an allergiest and I went through a year of desyntheization (sp?) shots and allergy meds and three months after starting the shots and meds my sinus infections disappeared, weight started falling off faster than I could imagine. I lost 45 lbs in about 9 weeks, doing exactly what I was doing before. When we got orders for here my allergist tried to get them deleted saying it would be horrible for me to live here but of course Army trumps health so we came here (which ended my weight loss) and I was having so many problems with the allergies and ending up in the ER, they started the steriod shots (which would make me gain weight 10lbs at a time) and then the every 2 weeks being put on Leviquin for massive sinus infections, to include cysts in both maxillary sinuses that the ENTs couldn't believe I could stand the pain they were so large. Even longer story short after three years of being here, I've gained back everything I had lost, developed PTC, suffer so badly from allergies I can barely breathe esp in the spring, the doctors here say there is no way allergies could account for my inability to lose weight but I do have to wonder since that guy was right and no body else has been! But the ARmy doesn't see fit to move us anytime soon, so Uncle Sam wins! :-)

It is crazy to me how many people on this board have taken Levaquin and developed this illness. Doctors want to blame it all on our weight and really don't look further into the real causes. I think allergies play a role in this as well since it seems to me a lot of people on this board were suffering reoccuring sinus infections which were treated with Levaquin WHICH I think brought us here! GRRRR

Go reread on high cortisol, thats ur issue. Its secreting for a reason, it really needs to be retested since its been a bit. My daughter was going through the same BS you are going through. We found the right endio and everything she told us so far has been true.
Others Dr.s acted like most of the free world does concerning her weight, she is to blame. No she's not, her food intake and her exercise does not make sense that she's getting bigger. You know best, dont let them write you off as idiopathic, they're being lazy.
