I'm in in the process of loosing weight...so far I've lost 25 lbs and am down to 189...I have talked to some people outside of this site and have been "cured" or have reached remission due to weight loss and diamox...and I'm really hoping this is true!

I read some of your prior posts, congrats on your success and keep it up girlfriend! That's awesome!

I really hope people who have lost and have reached remission or haven't will post, I'm sure they will :-)

I lost all of my "required" weight. No change in my IH symptoms, unfortunately. I am having a hard time maintaining- exercise is so hard, I'm going untreated right now, so it's worse than it was before.

Hoping for the best.. and you never know, what works for one doesn't always work for all, and vice versa :)

When I first became ill I was a normal weight, light even, but then they started me on high levels of steroids which made me put on 65 lbs.
I lost all that weight but no relief in symptoms Im afraid.
But while I really didn't think it was going to help , I did feel great about myself!
Keep in mind, that , even if it does not help your IIH , it will help your general health and you will look terrific!

Loosing weight lowers inter cranial pressure, that's a fact. That does not mean that when you get down to your ideal weight that you won't have excess csf, but you might feel better.

I have lost 50 lbs and look normal weight because I'm muscular but I am gonna lose 15-25lbs more just to make them drs happy. Haha.
Mine is not iih it's sih, due to Chiari.

I was a 'normal' weight (135, I'm 5'3") and did not have a change in symtpoms. My only improvement was with shunting.

I sure wish I could tell you. I was hoping it would help me. I lost 30lbs and then it just quit. I am fighting not to gain any. Oh I wish I could loose more I feel like it would be my answer.

i sure hope losing weight is the answer to this! i know TWO of my personal friends who have this.. and one) have got the gastric and still take a small dose of Diamox and feel better! two) has her days but has a little more weight to lose.. i have been told by my PCP dr as well as my nureo that weight lost will help. i know personality mine is not getting worst thank God but it is not fully getting better. I WAS 355 5'6" and now i am 280#! but this helps me go tothe gym.

I have had 2 neuro's tell me they think mine could be cured if I lost the weight. I have gained 60 lbs in 8-9 year time frame. I have been really down on myself lately for not being more aggressive about trying to lose it since I was diagnosed in Oct 2011. But I weighed this morning and am down 17 lbs so that's pretty good.

congrats on the weight lost!!! :) it is very hard to lose the weight! but WE just have to stay focus and THINK it is what is going to make us feel better!!
