Has anyone else had IGF-1 issues along with your prolactinoma? I've been on Dostinex for about four months now and, while my prolactin has dropped down to the normal range, my IGF-1 has gone up and down. I just got my latest test results today and it's up again. Just wondering if this is an indication of something else going on...

I had a feeling someone was going to ask this. : )

IGF-1 = insulin-like growth factor 1, "a polypeptide protein hormone similar in molecular structure to insulin. It plays an important role in childhood growth and continues to have anabolic effects in adults" (from wikipedia.org). Its production is stimulated by growth hormone. It is used as a screening test for growth hormone deficiency and excess (acromegaly).

I have a empty Sella they just found this Fall. My tumor is dead but my body is still over doing the prolactine so, I am still on the Dostinex. They also found that growth hormone has been damaged and I have started taking GH and am feeling really great. Do not know if that helps any.

So you didn't have excess growth hormone but a deficiency? I think I have an excess...
