I know. I had to get copies of my 3 MRIs and I read the report that came with them all. It sounded really scary and in some other language. Why can't they just say, "yea, her tumor has not shrunk, but has not grown either. Since it is in the brain it is obviously very close to important things like her optic nerve and carotid artery, but she's going to be fine assuming it doesn't grow."

A little clarity would be nice.

@bugsy it sounds as though the status of your tumor has not changed: "the findings are likely not significantly changed"

@BrandyinSTL not trying to be rude here, just informative because I find some basic biology to be rather interesting. The pituitary gland (and tumors on it) are not "in the brain". the pituitary is actually below the brain and a completely separate entity. Pituitary adenomas are not brain tumors. For that matter, neither are the optic nerves or carotid arteries. They are adjacent the brain nonetheless.

Well, all I can tell you is what my doctors have told me (my Endo, OBGYN, Primary Care and Neurologist), and what my understanding of basic human biology is as well. The pituitary is inside the hollow area low in the brain, kind of behind the nose, between the optic nerves. While it may not be literally inside of the brain, it is referred to as in the brain.

My tumor is large, and is surrounding my right carotid arterty, but not affecting the blood flow. It is also 1.5mm away from my optic nerve. They are actually surprised I have not had any vision impairment from my tumor. I do realize pituitary tumors are not literally brain tumors, but thank you for your information.

Also, with pituitary tumors being so close to the actual brain....if they are large enough they can put pressure on the brain and I'm pretty sure sometimes they can even grow partially "on it" if they are large enough.
