Phantom smells

I have high prolactin levels, was referred to an endocrinologist and for an MRI a few years ago. My insurance denied the MRI and because I suffer from agoraphobia, I wasn't able to get an an hour and a half away to the doctor. It's possible that I have a tumor, but I don't know for sure.

My question is has anybody ever had phantom smells, specifically nail polish remover? I've smelled it on occasion and again last night and it's freaking me out.

I'm not a physician, but from what I'm reading, even if you have a tumor, if you're female, its likely to be a tiny, small growing, non-cancerous one. A lot of doctors take a "wait and see" approach - no MRI or meds or anything until you have symptoms. Often they go away on their own.

From time to time everyone smells something that's not really there. It can be a memory at first but if it freaks you out, you start to smell it just thinking of it!

I have high prolactin and can't do the MRI so I'm using acupuncture to treat it. Acupuncture is really helpful for most hormonal imbalances.
