Other Hormone tests?

I have a Macro Prolactinima, is it wise to get other hormone checks as well as Prolacin? such as Testosterone and Progesterone.

I usually get a full panel...including IGF-1...which is a growth factor released by the Hypothalamus of the brain.

Oftentimes, our tumors can also effect other cells within the Pituitary and it's no uncommon to develop Acromegaly and other conditions alongside our Hyperprolactinemia.

There are just too many hormones that your pituitary has a part in controlling. Some of them will just cause problems with quality of life. But over time even these can have negative effects on health. Then there are other hormones that are much more serious...

Make sure you get tested on as many as you can. And make sure you have a doctor who understands them all. A good endo is a lifesaver. Above all, be your own best advocate for your health. Learn all that is involved with prolactinomas. (I wish doctors would read this forum to better understand our problems.)

Yes there are a lot of hormones. I'm currently going to a reproductive endo trying to figure out what's wrong and balance out the major hormones.

He found my LSH, FSH, & 17 hydroxyprogesterone are all low and my prolactin is high even though I've been taking Cabergoline. So he seems to think something else is going on. I had/have a micro 5mm prolactinoma. I also have hypothyroid and just getting diagnosed with PCOS as well.

So it's more testing. I did have a new MRI Saturday. My next appointment isn't until June 11.... seems so far away. But we had adjusted Cabergoline & thyroid meds so have to wait for retesting.
