Hey all.
I was diagnosed with a micro tumor when I was 15. I have been on hormonal birth control since I was 13 and since my diagnosis I have been unable to tolerate the medications. I have tried cabergoline and brymocriptine (sp?). Both of them make me very light headed and sick and so I am really unable to function while taking them.
Now here is my issue. I recently got a Mirena Coil inserted. I have wanted to get off of hormonal birth control for a long time and my Endocrinologist when I saw him last year said he didn't think I should switch because I was able to function with what I was doing. However, in November of last year I began a long string of health issues. Among these issues, my body began to reject my NuvaRing so I had to get off of it. I am unable to handle birth control pills because they make my hormones go nuts.
In any case, my Endocrinologist retired in December and when I called my new Endocrinologist to try and see her to talk to her about the Mirena she didn't seem concerned.. So i had it inserted.
It's been about three weeks and I have noticed a few major changes. First, I feel better than I have in years. Overall my body feels more alive. However, my milk production has also increased a lot. My breasts have swollen and I have gone from a size B32 to a C36 in the past year. My breasts are producing milk all the time now.
Has anyone else gone on the Mirena? What was your experience? Does anyone think this might be my bodies reaction to getting off of hormonal birth control after seven years straight of being on it? Or does anyone thing this is a sign my tumor is getting larger..
I, unfortunatly, have issues with time right now. I'm a full-time summer student and I am working so I can't see an Endocrinologist in the near near future. Besides that, my new Endocrinologist (who i haven't even met..) does not seem interested. Has anyone had expreience with anything related, or with coming off of birth control and how it affected their tumor?

Maybe because you have a prolactinoma your body is acting strangely to having a coil inserted?
Due to the size of my prolactinoma my endo said I should not get pregnant and should use a barrier method of contraception rather than the pill as the hormones in the pill can mask the symptoms of the prolactinoma.
Is there no way you could have a review with your endo over the phone or send them an email explaining your new symptoms as could be something important. If your new endo does not seem interested, could you not change and see a new one, or try to get in with one close to where you are working over the summer.
