I'm not on Cabergoline, but I wanted to say welcome to the family of having a prolactinoma. Hopefully your side-effects stay minimal. Just pay attention and learn how your body reacts. Also, remember to take a second to think before you fly off the handle about something. That is still something I'm trying to learn for myself - some days are better than others as far as that is concerned.

Hi there! 1 pill a week was too much for me, so I had to reduce it to 1/2. Look out for side effects the first couple of weeks. This little guy is potent and has a pretty long half-life, so it will take a week or two to get the full amount in your system. If you start to have problems, call your endo and they can probably lower your dose. The good news is that you've done well with your first dose! It's all up from here :-)

I had absolutely no side effects while taking Cabergoline. I, like you, really tried to keep a positive Outlook about everything. The mind is a powerful thing. I realize everyone is different but I think some people on here tend to get caught up in everyone else's side effects and start believing they are having those same side effects. I decided before starting the meds that they were going to lower my prolactin level, I was going to get pregnant, and the meds werent going to bother me at all. Well I'm 5 months pregnant now and things are going great!!!! So in my personal experience keeping a positive frame of mind works!!

I too going into all of this tried to keep a positive mental attitude and outlook along with a healthy life style.

Kshirley15, with all due respect, and in no way do I mean to be contrary, contradict or devalue that you had no side effects I think is great and a blessing for you.

I did not even know about this site and until after I started on Cabergoline. The debilitating side effects caused me to searchout as much information as possible. I came upon this site as well as The pituitary network asso, Ask a patient.com (type in dostinex) to help validate what this medication and it's effects we having on every aspect of my life.. My Endo and Neurosurgen all confirmed this. It was and is real, No amount of Positive attitude could combat what I was experiencing and in no way was I Feeding off of others struggles with this.

This site is a pure and simple validation! Those who are not going through this or have no side effects just cannot relate, the stories, experiences and testimonials are solid evidance that positive attitude alone cannot over come the meds effects.

I tried with every cell in my body and every positive tool in my mental and physical tool box to rise above how the meds changed many mental and physical daily life challenges. Everyones body chemistry handles the meds in a differant physical manner.

A positive attitude is very powerful, and I try as much as possible. However, when I'm bending over in stomach pain b/c of the bromocriptine, it is a little hard to maintain that attitude. I guess I can look at it this way...I am positive the bromocriptine makes me feel like crap from time to time. Does that count?

In all seriousness - a positive attitude is great, but validation is incredibly helpful as well. I felt like I was crazy until I did more research and read more posts on here. I am trying to remain positive that my body will work itself out and I'll be able to have kids, but the fear of that never happening sometimes takes over a little more than I'd like it to.
