Prolactinoma Support Group
A prolactinoma is a benign tumor of the pituitary gland that produces a hormone called prolactin. It is the most common type of pituitary tumor. Symptoms of prolactinoma are caused by too much prolactin in the blood or by pressure of the tumor on surrounding tissues. Prolactin stimulates the breast to produce milk during pregnancy. After delivery of the baby, a mother's...
It's interesting, because i've always had my peroid, but that might be because i'm on birth control.
I feel like i'm over-reacting...but i can definitely notice: Headaches, dizzyness, my memory is shocking, forgetfulness, extreme constipation...
I can blame my moods but i know i'm quite a moody person in general hehe.
On the up side, I try to eat well, mainly vegetarian and I juice daily. The juice recommended to me for the pituitary system is carrots, celery, dandelion, parsley and oranges. I try to juice once or twice a day, and not only this recipe. I think eating a lot of vegetables helps with the constipation and weight gain. Best of luck to you all, I'm very happy to have found this site and now I know I'm not just crazy :)
I'm really glad to have found the site too... It is good to know we're not going crazy!! Ha, ha. I was just diagnosed with a 1.3 CM tumor in June, 2012 and I had "symptoms all over the place" too. Some of mine are: period abruptly stopped, hormones low, head nausea, constant pressure in the back of my head, shortness of breath, extreme fatigue, dizzy, feel weak, low blood pressure, digestion slowed down, weight gain in the belly area, "weird" metally taste in the back of my throat, forgetfulness & brain fog, feel overwhelmed, less patience/quicker to get angry, and can feel a shaking/vibration inside my head when I sleep. Has anyone experienced this last one??? So far I haven't heard anyone else mention this. I'm on Cabergoline right now and even though it got my Prolactin down to normal, I'm struggling with it's side effects. It's been a challenging jouney. I wish us all the best!!
I was diagnosed in July with an 8mm prolactinoma. I started on cabergoline in August.
I have good days and bad days but when its bad its awful.
My periods were all over the place and we were trying for another baby and getting no where so thats how I found out I have this in the first place. I had my first period in 5 months 2 weeks ago.
Other symptoms are - lactation, burning breast pain, stabbing pains in head, near constant headache, pins and needles type feeling in my eyes, white vibrating flashes in my eyes when i'm trying to sleep, pins and needles in hands and feet, abdominal pain, twitch in left eye, twitch in abdomen, dizzy spells, constipation, nausea, tiredness, stiff sore neck, dry skin, zero sex drive and weight gain. I'm over weight anyway but its just creeping up and up no matter what I do. Some of these things started or got worse after starting the Cabergoline. My endocrinologist has said that it can take 6-12 months to feel any benefit from the treatment! I'm so fed up, I've got 2 young kids and feel useless, I can't play with them like I used to, there's been no running around with them for ages. I just want some energy back! On a bad day i'm lucky if I can drag myself out of bed.
I've experienced the vast majority of what you describe. You are not alone.
