I did not have an echo, but I remember my doctor debating it before prescribing Cabergoline (back in April '09). If I remember correctly, the reason for this is that Dostinex/Cabergoline, in a very small amount of people, may cause damage to the heart valve. You may want to do some research, just to be sure. My doctor assured me the risk, if there is any, is very small. But it's always worth checking out and deciding for yourself.

I've been taking Cabergoline twice a week since April, and although I had a relatively hard time with the symptoms at first, I've gotten used to them. They don't seem so bad anymore. They actually make me feel better overall. And no problems with my heart. Good luck to your daughter!!

Thanks for the insight, I guess they are just
doing the echo as a precautionary measure. As
long as they tell me everything is ok with her
heart I plan on starting her on the med on
Friday, this way if she does have all these
terrible side affects she will at least have
the weekend to re-coup, she already has a hard
time with school and her homework with the headaches that she gets, I even have been doing some of her homework for her to make her life easier, it's not easy, she's an honor student and its hard, lol. Thanks again
