Cortisol

Hi Everyone,
I have been diagnosed for over 2 years now, and have just been requested to go for a Cortisol test it that normal or should I have been checked for this before now, also my Cholesterol levels are high(7) and I have been taking Avastin, with the hope of bringing it down, and have felt pretty awful, stomach aches, bloating, chest pain, does anyone else take this medication along with Cabergoline?

Hi Linda,

I had stomach aches and bloating just on the cabergoline. Might want
to try a fruit/veggie smoothie for a few days, may body did much better with unprocessed foods.

I had my Cortisol retested because it showed up low once and it was normal the second time. There's some severe issues if it's too high or too low. If I remember right, those issues are easier to treat.

Hi Linda,

I also have low cortisol level. I was put on a low dose steroid (prednisone) which helped immensely. Unfortunate I could not tolerate the prednisone and had to stop the treatment.

I also have high cholesterol, which is fairly common with a prolactinoma and take Gemfibrozal (Lopid) with along with my Cabergoline without any serious issues.

linda, i have had awful bloating on the cabergoline, along with hair loss and extreme increase in sexual function. i have stopped the cabergoline and am going to have the adenoma removed.

Thank you for your replies, I haven't been offered a choice to have the Andenoma removed because I am responding to the Cabergoline, my prolactin levels have come down for 35,000 to 5,400 over the 2 years I have been on it, and the Tumor has not grown, I think it was the mixing of The steroid Avastatin that cause me to have such stomach pains, so I have stopped taking it, I would sooner have high colesterol that go through that, I have only stopped taking the Avastatin for two days and Im ok, no more pain. Had my cortisol check today, and should know in a couple of days the results. Just one more question do any of you drink alcohol with the cabergoline? I have read that the drug does not respond so well with alcohol, I find it hard not to have a beer (just one bottle) with my meal at night, and perhaps a glass of wine.

I had my Cortisol checked, and was ok, so that is a relief, no extra med's. Just awaiting my next scan, which is not till April, it has been 9 months now since my last scan, does anyone else have to wait so long?.
