Hi can anyone tell me the correct prolacin level, I am now down to 540, from 35.000, I have a Macro Prolacinoma, do not have another blood test until end of May, to see if it has reduced even further, I just keep getting conflicting information of the correct level, is it 80?

Hi Linda,

"The normal values for prolactin are as follows:

* Males: 2 - 18 ng/mL
* Non-pregnant females: 2 - 29 ng/mL
* Pregnant women: 10 - 209 ng/mL

Normal value ranges may vary slightly among different laboratories. Talk to your doctor about the meaning of your specific test results.

Note: ng/mL = nanograms per milliliter"

When did they discover your prolactinoma? 35 000 is a very high level and a quick drop might cause complications depending on the location and size of your prolactinoma. Hope they are monitoring you often and carefully.

All the tests I have had here in the US have been measured in ng/mL. My high was over 8000. If you have yours measured in pmol/l like many Europeans do, then you would need to divide your results by 44 to match the limits that prolactinomainfo gave above.

Hi, my prolacinoma was discovered January 2009, and has been coming down from 35.000 to 5400 since then, taking 1 cabergoline tablet twice a week, I have another MRI scan in August, to see if the tumor has reduced, last check it hadn't.. Thank you for your replies, very much appreciated.
