I had a bad time when i first started Cabergoline and had a drink. I read the leaflet and it said effects with alcohol unknown.....so I thought that I would try it!! I took my tablet and then I went out for a drink. I managed about a quarter of a pint and I felt really pissed. My fiance, now husband, had to take me home and get me sorted. Since then, if I want a drink I make sure that I have only one pint and then I take my tablet when I get home. It might not be the same for you but just be careful.

I haven't touched any Alcohol now for 5 days, can say I feel any better, in fact my head aches more, but I just hope the Cabergoline will do its job a bit easier, not sure if I can keep it up, we had curry for tea and I would have loved a beer with it.

Well I am naughty cause I drink regulary - I am not sure if any ill effects but I have not changed any of my habits since I started medication years ago first on brocriptomine and then cabergoline if anything they (habits) have got worst and over the years the tumer has got smaller then after a break on medication - bigger and now reduced a bit again since I have been back on medication. When I do have a break from drinking their is no difference I feel. So I just do what makes me happy.

I can have 2 or 3 drinks on the nights I am not taking my cabergoline.

I don't think I've changed my drinking habits at all and as far as I know I'm fine. I'm a once or twice a week drinker and have anywhere from 2-5 drinks, so I have not noticed and unusual side effects.

The alcohol itself won't affect the effectiveness of the drug (I'm a pharmacist). It just may make the side effects worse (HA, dizziness, nausea). I haven't had a drink since I started cab a week or so ago, and I'm planning on waiting a few months to get stable before I try. Some interesting studies have shown that cabergoline may somehow decrease the reward mechanism involved in alcoholism. It's really complicated & I don't understand it completely but I'm wondering if alcohol even has the same effect when you are on cab? Sounds like the "reward" or good feeling that you get from alcohol is dampened. Any experiences with that?

Thank you for explaining, I dont seem to feel any different wether I drink or not, (always a bit foggy) it was just that my prolactin levels had gone up, and we had been on a Cruise, so I had drunk a bit more than I normally would, so I just thought it may have effected the the Cabergoline doing its job.

Your physiological response may depend on what in addition to the cabergoline you are on as well as other factors. I personally cannot drink. Within an hour I get the worst hangover head ache and feel ill for at least a day or two.

I tooke bromo and for years could not handle drink at all and did not even feel well while drinking...
and did not know why and went to many docs who were clue-less until I found out they gave it to alcoholics to stop them from drinking..
Anybody know why bromo and alchold do this? I tested so many things and found nothing..

Now I changed to dostined and found out that I need to wait at least 36h after taking Cabergoline with my drinks.
else feel terribly tired for 1-2 days afterwards even from just 3 drinks.

Strangely enough , years ago ,the few times I took Cabergoline after drinking, while still tipsy I was fine..at least that is what I remember.

Hi there I drunk throught my whole 5 years of treatment bar about 6 months, I've know finished my treatment. It affected it in no way, however I found I would get drunk very easily I would try not to have a drink around the day I took my pill, i found wine in particular affected me very quickly so I avoided it all together and just drunk spirits and cider.
Also I read on a leaflet I was given while in hospital about prolactinorma and it say to speak to you doctor about specific alcohols you should avoid.

I'm taking cabergoline and I used to be able to drink my husband under the table, now, I have a shandy and i'm on the floor! I just can't handle the booze anymore at all :(

I've always been a lightweight when it came to alcohol. Cabergoline only makes this worse...or better...depending upon your perspective.

If I haven't had my cabergoline on the days I drink I'm not usually too bad but when I drink the same day as i've had the cabergoline I usually get very drunk or I get very tipsy but the hangover is much worse! Also if I drink the same day as I have my tablet I barely remember a thing the next day even if I haven't drank that much
