Prolactinoma Support Group
A prolactinoma is a benign tumor of the pituitary gland that produces a hormone called prolactin. It is the most common type of pituitary tumor. Symptoms of prolactinoma are caused by too much prolactin in the blood or by pressure of the tumor on surrounding tissues. Prolactin stimulates the breast to produce milk during pregnancy. In addition to high dose cabergoline treatment, I have been receiveing weekly acupuncture treatments for my hyperprolactinemia/infertility issues. I was wondering if anyone else has tried this approach and what their experiences were.
I have read articles pointing to studies that acupuncture has been clinically proven to effectively treat hyperprolactinemia just as well as bromocriptine, but without the side effects and with less reoccurance.
I have been receiving treatments for over a month now, and though I feel very relaxed after each treatment, I can not tell what results I may be getting from it.

While I have just recently recd my diagnosis I have been having acupuncture for a year now to try and help me "live" with these headaches (with the wrong diagnosis). I can tell you that yes I feel very relaxed after each treatment and that affect will last longer as you see your acupuncturist over time. I know that mine works bc when he goes on holidays or there is an appt conflict and I am unable to see him for 2 weeks...the pain increases and my ability to just sit up and deal with life is reduced. It was also my acupuncturist that noticed that my adrenals and my thyroid were being affected although the doctors kept saying that nothing was wrong. I see a man that uses the Japanese style of acupunture but I did try 3 other gentlemen before I found this guy and really started feeling the positive results. Are you in canada or the us?

Dunner, Im happy to hear that you are happy with your accupuncture treatments. I enjoy it and would like to keep going for as long as I can. My accupuncturist is treating me for issues related to Liver deficiancy/ spleen excess as they are supposed to be related to the endocrine/reproductive problems. She is also concentrating on endocrine related spots. I have not experienced pain or headaches, which I am grateful for, so she has mainly concentrated on the hormonal aspects. She is doing more the Chinese style.... I am in Denver, CO

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
