Hello all. I am in great need of your advice. I am fairly new to this game. I have been sick for about a year and a half. It took me a while to figure out why when my pain subsided, I would get the flu for a day or so. Well now it is clear. My biggest problem is I don't know how to manage the pain that comes with my disease (auto immune disorder). I love it when I get off pain meds, and it never fails, my pain gets to a point where I cave and start taking pain pills again. That is such a feeling of doom. The most recent round was prompted by a flare up in my mouth...I can't even describe the pain when my body is attacking me...kind of felt like having severe chemical burns in my mouth. The pain pills helped but honestly just barely took the edge off. How do you heroes manage to function through pain? When I am taking pain pills I feel afraid of where it might lead. Every addict that died was probably in a similar situation to mine at some point. I feel that I have lucked out that I have been able to stop taking them a few times with relative ease. That makes me even more susceptible. Like maybe if it was harder to stop, I would be able to handle more pain without taking them. I really need a plan for long term pain management. I am so tired of going through withdrawal again and again and again.

So mad at Xfinity! They're trying to charge me $115 per month for the same service I had been paying $50 the last four years. I took the equipment to UPS for shipping and cancelled my subscription today! Next door was a cookie shop called Crumbl. I had heard of it before but never went in until today. I don't need one more sugar fix, but maybe it will help with my sad) grieving heart....$15...

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I think you have to ask yourself how much pain you can tolerate. We all have our limit and some can tolerate more then others. I have chronic back pain and when it gets too bad I will take as many as 4 ibprophen pills which is 800 milligrams which is the prescription dose. That helps to keep me functioning at a reasonable level with little or no pain. I do other things as well, like heat, massage and a tens belt.
If I were in your shoes I would learn as much about my disease as I could and possibly talk with a pysiatrist (pain management doctor) and look at all my options for handles pain associated with my problem.
I don't think you have to worry about dropping dead anytime soon but having that fear means you have begun to ask questions so it can be a good thing.
It might help you to check with people in the chronic pain group. They may have more answers for you there. Here is the link:

I hope and pray you can one day become pain free and never have to worry about depending on narcotic pain pills for relief but in the meantime, if you need them because nothing else will help, then you need them and there is no shame in that!
God Bless!
