Hello everyone my name is Kayla. I have an addiction to pain pills. It started when I was 21 and am now 31. I can't seem to get away from them. I am trying to learn how to live without them. I finally came clean to my husband( of two years) and ever since I came clean to him about it he always throws it up in my face that im probably going to go get some pills and get high. Mind you it has been almost two months since I have taken anything. Him saying that or anytime I get upset it makes me want to take them. I have a addiction that I never thought I would of ever had. I often wonder if there is a way to beat it. At times I feel like I am in a dark hole that I cant get out.

So mad at Xfinity! They're trying to charge me $115 per month for the same service I had been paying $50 the last four years. I took the equipment to UPS for shipping and cancelled my subscription today! Next door was a cookie shop called Crumbl. I had heard of it before but never went in until today. I don't need one more sugar fix, but maybe it will help with my sad) grieving heart....$15...

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I know what you mean. I was also addicted to prescription pain pills. I started taking two 5 miligram vicodins, twice a day. Three years later, I was taking five 10 miligram vicodin pills 3 times a day. I reached a point where my body just couldn't take it anymore and I ended up in the hospital with renal failure. After 3 days my doctor was able to get my kidneys functioning again but that was a wake up call and I knew I had to quit. I tried many times to quit on my own and I just couldn't do it so I went through outpatient treatment.
That was 12 years ago. Today I have a great life so there is a rainbow after the storm and I am living proof of that.
It sounds like you may be self medicating depression with the pills. When I was in treatment, I learned some coping skills because my job and my marriage were my two biggest triggers, and even though I was on depression medication at the time, it just wasn't enough.
Somehow, I don't think your addiction is as bad as mine was. I think you just need to find a way to deal with stress. There are some things you can do that will help you. You can write a journal here and every time you feel triggered by things outside you like husband or some trauma in the past then you can write about your feelings. You do not have to make it a public journal, if you don't want to. Just click private if you like. That's what I did, and I went back and read some of my posts the other day and I was quite amazed at how far I have come! It's always fun to go back and see the person we use to be knowing we have grown exponentially!
Keep us posted because the path you take might help someone else.
God Bless
Good luck to the both of you on your road to recovery and may you find peace and happiness along the way.
