Medical detox?

My dr, also mentioned medical detox. I dont get much time to ask her questions. has anyone had this before? I would be detoxing from percocets, 40 - 60 mg a day. What meds would they give me to help with the detox? I am so scared right now.

awww don't be scared! Chances are the people in detoxed assigned to you are former addicts themseles and will understand what you are going through!

They will give you medicine to help you through the detox process. There will also be a doctor there who will give you a physical and probably be the one to start you on suboxone.

It's natural to be scared, I was scared but it was a breeze, Don't worry and good luck!

Thank you Bob for responding. I am debating on two different ways, detox with out suboxone or just getting on the suboxone. I am leary about the suboxone because I hear so many stories of people getting addicted and I dont want to trade one problem for anther. So, I was wondering should I just detox and stay in my intense therapy that I am in right now? Im sure the sub would make things easier in the long haul but as I said, I am worried about being on yet another med.

Suboxone is an opiate but you can't get high from it. All it does is plug the opiate receptors in your brain so you won't get those awful cravings. That way you can concentrate on getting better. Just don't stay on the suboxone indefinitely like some people do. I was on it for about six months and weaned myself off from it faster then my doctor wanted me to but it was the right time for me. For a few months afterwards, I would have a few cravings here and there but I was getting support so it was easy for me. After about 6 months they dissappeared altogether. I guess my brain finally got use to a sober lifestle and gave up with the cravings which is just what I wanted to begin with.

I do alot of walking and jogging now and I get a natural high from that but it's a healthy one and I am more happier now then I have ever been! I just wish all addicts could walk in my shoes so they can see that there is life after addiction and it will be more enjoyable then they ever dreamed possible!

    So mad at Xfinity!  They're trying to charge me $115 per month for the same service I had been paying $50 the last four years. I took the equipment to UPS for shipping and cancelled my subscription today!  Next door was a cookie shop called Crumbl. I had heard of it before but never went in until today. I don't need one more sugar fix, but maybe it will help with my sad) grieving heart....$15...

    check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....
