I am addicted to painkillers and want to stop
wizzo01
Hello. I am a 38 year old man addicted to painkillers. I want to stop so bad but I am so scared of the withdrawal effects I just keep taking them and throwing money down the drain. I have been taking them for almost 10 years now. For the first 7 years it was on and off, I felt like i had some control, I was able to take them here and there from time to time and not have an issue when I went periods without them. The past 2-3 years however have been a different story. I have been taking them daily. I am up to taking about 6-8 of them a day. I know if I keep it up they are going to kill me. I work full time and whenever I tell myself I am going to stop I will go a day without them and then the withdrawal symptoms kick in and I immediately get some more. I just can't get off work for a few days to struggle through the withdrawals that is why I can't stop. I need any advice I can get to get through this. I have to stop.

So mad at Xfinity! They're trying to charge me $115 per month for the same service I had been paying $50 the last four years. I took the equipment to UPS for shipping and cancelled my subscription today! Next door was a cookie shop called Crumbl. I had heard of it before but never went in until today. I don't need one more sugar fix, but maybe it will help with my sad) grieving heart....$15...

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

One thing I discovered was it is impossible to stop alone, in fact, I tried hundreds of times and failed each and every time. Eventually, I knew I needed help to quit. At one point, I nearly died from renal failure and was in the hospital for 3 days but oddly enough, that did not stop me from using more narcotic pain killers!
I talked to my doctor about it and she was the first person to give me the support I so desperately needed! She refered me to detox where I was kept comfortable with alternate medications, through the withdrawal process. From detox, I went into a 3 week outpatient program where I learned about addiction and was treated for the things which predisposed me to addiction.
From there I went into 3 months of relapse prevention group counseling where I learned what my triggers were and how to handle them.
Throughout all the help and counseling I receive, AA or NA meetings were a requirement! This was 8 years ago, and today I live my life by the 12 steps and I have never been happier.
Sir, I urge you to swallow your pride, be brave and talk to your doctor! You are on a train that is guaranteed to crash when it reaches the end of the line. You have a life and death decision to make.
If you need to talk you can contact me anytime. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers!
God Bless!
Love & light!
