I have used lexapro, celexa and prozac in the past...am starting cymbalta this week.
I have chronic back, leg, hip pain including nerve pain- after back surgery. I became addicted to pain pills- after a long process i am clean now, but am worried about taking cymbalta since, from what i understand, it helps with pain in addition to being an anti-depressant.
I know what the makers of the drug say about its dependency, but does anyone have any other experiences?
If you have pain and depression, which one will it help more?
I have also heard/read it can make a person "numb" to emotion altogether?
Anyone have thoughts?

So mad at Xfinity! They're trying to charge me $115 per month for the same service I had been paying $50 the last four years. I took the equipment to UPS for shipping and cancelled my subscription today! Next door was a cookie shop called Crumbl. I had heard of it before but never went in until today. I don't need one more sugar fix, but maybe it will help with my sad) grieving heart....$15...

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I thought it worked great for my depression while I was on it but I didn't think it was very consistant so after about 2 & 1/2 years of being on it my dr put me on Pristiq which is one of the newer ones. I actually asked my dr to because I heard about it from a few friends here who were taking it.
I don't think you have anything to fear from antidepressant medication. I guess they are mildly addictive over time but not as bad as narcotics for example, nowhere near as bad. I was actually skipping doses of my Pristiq for awhile, not usually on purpose, I would just forget to take them (That's what happens when you get old :) It would usually take 2 or 3 days for me to realize, I probably should take them because I would start feeling depressed again.
So I think both Pristiq and Cymbalta do their job and they do it quite well. I am not afraid to take them. I don't think they made me numb to emotion at all.
I just have the wires crossed in my brain and that's what causes me to feel under the weather all the time so antidepressants just make me feel normal.
Good luck
