A friend's in need and I can't be around for her.

A college friend of mine is addicted to Xanax and some other prescription drugs I never heard of. I was addicted to Xanax for a year and a half, and I'm a year clean now. I have another close friend that was also addicted and now clean. We tried talking to her and it didn't work. She shoplifts when shes high and blacks out. I know the black outs well, but I don't think I shoplifted like that. When we're out in public, at the beach or bar, she asks strangers if they know where to get them. She's being very risky and I can't really be around it too much. The temptation is there for me, and I also have Bipolar Disorder so all it would take is one manic episode and I'll be back to that life. My friend also doesn't want to be around because she doesn't want to get arrested with her shoplifting and always having them on her. She get them from her parents so it would be really hard for her to quit. I was there when she told her mother she had a headache and she gave her a Viciden. My mother would have told me to get over it.. I don't know what else I could do, she doesn't want to stop, and she doesn't listen. I don't want her to get arrested and loose everything shes done in school for Business Management. All I can think of now that my parents did to help me is tough love. Maybe she will realize she looses good people to this. It was easier for me to stop because I moved back home with very strict parents and my mother was there for my withdrawal. If it weren't something illegal, I would talk to a counselor but I don't want cops or her getting kicked out.
Any advise will be appreciated. Classes start soon and I'll be seeing her more often.

So mad at Xfinity! They're trying to charge me $115 per month for the same service I had been paying $50 the last four years. I took the equipment to UPS for shipping and cancelled my subscription today! Next door was a cookie shop called Crumbl. I had heard of it before but never went in until today. I don't need one more sugar fix, but maybe it will help with my sad) grieving heart....$15...

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

As you said, "Tough Love" is difficult to do but it's the only thing that will help your friend at this point, and who knows, when she finally gets clean, you two can go back to being friends again.
When I got out of treatment, The first thing I had to do, and the most difficult was get rid of all my drug friends. Being around them was a huge trigger.
You have come a long way and you deserve alot of credit for that, I know it wasn't easy for you, it never is, but please.....don't allow her to drag you down with her!
Nowadays, with the crowded prisons, Judges lean alot more toward making treatment a condition of parole rather then filling jails with more addicts!
Congratulations on your own sobriety! The best thing you could do for your friend is to continue to lead by example and she will see how awesome sobriety is and that clean people can actually have fun and enjoy life! But first, let her hit her low and when she holds her had out, take that hand and bring her to the nearest ER for detox and treatment!. Show her what worked for you and maybe, it will work for your friend!
God Bless!
