Do not wait until you are 37! I was only kidding!
I wonder if they will do in- vitro fertilization on a person who does not have fertility issues? The twins would be fraternal but still twins.
Here are some things a person should know about carrying twins;
I am only 18 weeks and as large as I was with my first son at 8 MONTHS.
It hurts! I am one big constant cramp machine.
My boobs are already leaking and I went from a 36 A- to a size 44 sports bra and I'm not even close to being done yet!
I spent the first two and a half months on the couch with morning sickness and lost about 16 pounds. Double baby/double sickness, not so good for developing fetuses.
Higher risk of miscarriage, premature birth and pregnancy risks for the mother such as high blood pressure, gestational diabetes and so-on.
As for the benefits...there are too many to list, one of them being how fortunate I feel to have been chosen for this job and many more I do not know about yet.
As for how I got here...
It wasn't Yams or Medicine or Hereditary.
I have to just chalk it up to being OLD!
I am only 18 weeks
My understanding is that those with twins in the family have the greatest chance of having twins (as they are hereditary). I've also heard that those who conceieve whil on or just off the pill have a greater chance (I'm guessing that fudging with the pill may mess up your system, so your body may ovulate differently). I remember reading sometghing about women who are overweight/who have a higher BMI having a greater chance at having twins.
Finally, fertility treatments raise the incidence of multiple births. But that seems an extreme measure just to have twins (versus to have a baby/babies, period). LOL
On my end, I have a family history of twins (on both maternal and paternal sides), but am glad I ain't having them, myself. LOL I want to focus on just the one and not be frazzled by two. Good luck (and GOD BLESS) to all the mamas of multiples!
